The Detroit River Bar light HL696 will be the in-store event signing piece for 2007. Suggested retail is $45. Available only from dealers with a Harbour Lights signing event.

Look for signing events featuring Bill Younger, Harry Hine and Kim Andrews in 2007. The list of events is expected not later than Monday.

My event with Bill is 18 March. Talked to Tony this morning and he tells me I will have both pieces on time. Sure hope so.

Detroit River Bar is a rather simplistic HL but then again it's eye-catching. Another plus from Harbour Lights for 2007.

I agree with Bob M, it's simplistic. But the that's what the real one is, so it's a true model.

Since I collect Lake Erie lighthouses, it's getting added to my list.

Hopefully there will be an event in northern Ohio this year but the only full time dealer left in this area I believe is in Cleveland. How sad is that from a few years ago.

Detroit River Light is the "just right" size for a signing piece. So is the price.

I wonder if it includes the scrapes from the freighter that hit it.

Both pieces? What is the 2nd piece? Would Bronze Lady be suggesting the 2007 Regional piece, or perhaps the 2007 Society piece???

I like the signing event light, and the price is really good. Helps with the pocketbook that is usually getting stretched thin buying pieces to get in the drawing for the gold!

Bob.

I don't originate the lists of event or regional dealers. That's coming from Tony.

It's now expected on Monday. I will post it as soon as I have it!

Best,

John

Mel, Terry (Bronze Lady) would be referring to the Bill event and regional event pieces. He has generally been one of the regional supporting dealers, I believe.

Thanks Dave, thats what I thought, but only one of the pieces was named...Detroit River. Did I miss some other thread where the Regional piece was identified?

Edited by Mel...as the character on SNL played by Gilna Radner (sp?)Emily something.....would say

"Never mind"...found the thread.

If you click on the link in Terry's first post for The Bronze Lady Orlando, then click on the Harbour Lights icon, it shows a picture of the Regional piece, Racine Reef light, HL697 $65.00 a "Gone but not forgotten" piece.

Yeah, Bob Ott - he knows YOUR name and at least your EMAIL address.

And Tony reads the forums religiously every day.

So Tony, you see what I get from these guys and gals?! I know which side my bread is buttered on!

And, to quote the man himself, laughing, "Some of these people need to get a REAL life!"

"But Harbour Lights IS their real life,"
I reply.

To Be Continued...

Didn't Jimmy Buffet sing about the "Bank of bad habits"?

Many people are hooked on Harbour Lights for different reasons, and they go through many stages during their lifetime. Many start out strong then fizzle out of collecting. Others are obsessed with "getting them all" and often times do just that. Others just run out of space to store and display HL's, but don't lose their enthusiasm for this collectible. Some people just can't afford to keep the pace financially.

Let's be honest, most everyone here at the CF is partly into collecting HL's for the social aspect. Our passion for collecting brings us here to see what is going on in the HL World. A nice part of the CF is ever-changing diverse group that gathers to post and read what's at the CF. We share other mutual interests. It doesn't get much better than this at a BBS on the Net.

nono We all have a real life outside of lighthouses. A very stressful life for different reasons. Collecting Harbour Lights and going lighthousing are our escapes from everyday stress. For me, this board is a place I get to talk about lighthouse collecting, visiting, and their history.

Well said, Bob M and Lighthouse Loon...

My interest in Harbour Lights certainly took off when I found other collectors online and met many of them and more at Collectibles Shows, Trade Shows, and Store and Regional Events. Without those connections, I doubt my 'collecting' would have gotten past the first 7 pieces I bought one day in August 1996.

Maybe we should be working on marketing themes for Harbour Lights:

"Relax and take a trip into the past."

"Find your future in America's past."

"Collect the history of America."

"Collecting friends and lighthouses."

What's YOUR idea?

John,

Thanks for the post concerning the 2007 Store Events. We were all anxiously waiting for it. Patience is NOT our strong point. I guess we can call off the vigilantes, dismantle the gallows and stop planning for the hangman’s party. vhappy

What should we do with all the beer?

The regional sponsoring dealer list has just been started. The list will grow as the reps report back their results. I assure you that there will be at least one dealer in Indiana.
