I'm a little confused about when and where these event pieces will be available. The website says that they will be available at the regional events and that dealers within that region will take advance orders for the piece. How can I find out which dealers these are?

Ed,
As the time for the event gets closer, I imagine John (or someone) will post a list of the dealers "feeding" into each regional. You will have to purchase HL or the event piece from them. Last year I believe you got one coupon for each HL you bought, the coupon allowing you to have one HL signed (didn't have to be the one you purchased). Of course, the CHOTM piece will be available at any Bill signing even. Rep events will have their own special version of Beckoning Beacons.

Welcome to the forums.

Dave

Ed... that particular event piece will be available the weekend it is unveiled (Memorial Day weekend). If you would like, you can place an order for a signed piece. The list of dealers who will have it was posted in the latest edition of "The Legacy" - Harbour Light's quarterly publication. I placed an order (using a credit card) for my piece with Cindy of The Lighthouse Gallery in Nags Head, NC. Their phone number is (800) 579-2827. Immediately after the event, they will ship you the piece, signed by Bill Younger. As of this post, they have taken just over 300 orders. It sounds like it will be a very popular piece. Good luck!

They sent me a postcard in the mail and I just placed my order too. I won't be there for Memorial Day, but I will be there in July. For those going to the Outer Banks Memorial Day weekend, you need to stop in the store. It is filled with all sorts oflighthouse related items. Its a wonderful store!

I don't know if this helps at all, but I was talking to my regular dealer the other day and he was telling me that he is going to be part of the Regional Event in California in August, so he will have the Hatteras event pieces.

Here is his information:
Sam
Whimsey Hollow
Mariner's Village
34509 Golden Lantern
Dana Point, CA 92629
949-496-2431

Sam is an all-around great guy and wonderful dealer.

Bill will be at Collectors World for a signing this coming June 4th and you are able purchase "Hatteras on the Move" by contacting Chris Alex at:

Collectors World, Box 338, Rt. 6
Eastham MA, 02642
1-800-421-4270

I have recently ordered one for my collection, which Chris will have Bill sign and then he'll ship it directly to my house. You may do the same, BUT HURRY AS THE EVENT IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!

While it is very commendable that everyone wants to help and or suggest their favorite or local area dealer, I think it should be mentioned that the Hatteras on the Move Event lighthouse will be available at 6 regional events and at around 22 dealer events this year.

The reason for the big interest at Gallery and Gifts is twofold, it will be the first time that it is offered and a lot of collectors are planning a pilgrimage to Hatteras for the reopening ceremonies. If a HL collector is going to the event, they of course just have to have it then.. can’t wait.. HL collector law.

While I am not saying don’t buy from these fine dealers, I am just reminding everyone that the lighthouse will be offered by a lot of great dealers at events this year and John Chidester has all of these opportunities listed at the Harbour Lights Website.

I've seen the Hatteras on the move piece, and so can you! That is if you are a member of the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society. On the back page of the Spring 2000 issue is a picture of Bill holding the, "on the move piece!!!"

Paul... thanks for your post regarding purchasing this particular event piece. Unfortunately, many collectors who frequent these forums will not be close enough to a regional or dealer event, or have time to go due to hectic schedules. For that very reason, I had to place an order with a dealer in the Hatteras area simply because I cannot make the various up, and coming events. It was either that, or miss out completely. For those of you who are new or do not understand, Paul makes a very good point. If you can make a regional or dealer event, then do so and take advantage of the fun! If not, then your only option to purchase the "Hatteras On The Move" event piece is to place an order. But then, I'm with Sean... just send me a "Bill" doll.

It's true about the word not getting out to retailers about the Regional Events. I asked about the Orlando Regional Event at four different stores that have the HL line and not one had any knowledge of the event or was aware of the recent contest.

Hey Weasel, How about scanning it and posting it so we all can see it There's one in the "Lighthouse Depot" magazine but it's by Fraser International. I'm sure the HL piece is much better so I'm eager to see it..
counting the days to May 27th!!!

Medicman, the Harbour Lights piece beats Fraser all to #@%#!!!!! I actually bought a Fraser piece from Lighthouse Depot, but sent it back when I found out HL was making one! The quality of the Fraser was not there compared to the Harbour Lights version! Wish I had a way to scan this for all to see!
