I ordered these from a dealer in another state as well as a few Harmony Kingdom pieces for my wife. I had all but forgotten them, the way my income vs outgo ratio had fallen. I have recently decided to rid some of my (our) excess hobbies - everything from aquariums to firearms and telescopes to Woodworking tools. Lots of folks wanting them - little money. Then here comes those lights - uh oh!
Well, I got the HL 276 Tucker Is, 280 Bullock Pt, 282 Wolftrap, 283 C. Romain, 284 Clarks Pt., 442 Bald Hd, and 655 Ft. Tompkins (summer). I don't care about the melted plastic, I like every one of those lights - even the 442! I cannot find fault with any of them - well, maybe that blue box for the C. Romain... and that Ft. Tompkins was defective, er, incomplete... I now 'need' it's seasonal siblings! I also need that CA light - and that Minot's ledge, if that ship ever docks!
Yeah, I may go to debtor's prison... maybe I can take a few lights with me...
Seriously, they do seem to be getting better and better.
John

John, where have you been? We've missed you! Glad you desided to drop in on us again! Did you ever get that mutilated card replaced? Stephanie

Pay me now, pay me later...It's only money, John. If they make you happy then buy them, I do. Has anyone ever added up the cost, at retail, if you purchased one of every limited edition, Christmas piece, and society pieces. How about one of every open edition. Okay math lovers...start your calculators! Bob

Bob, I really don't want to know. I'm not usre if it would be pain or not, but ignorance is bliss and not knowing what I paid collectively for what I have is fine with me. Now you have everyone but Coquille. Do you really want to know what you've paid? By the way do you have the Coquille GLOW? Bert

Sometimes it's a necessary evil to know what you've got invested so you can insure them. Insurance is also a necessary evil once that collection starts accumulating. Rich

If someone comes up with a total value (retail) for all the pieces in the collection, please don't let my wife know what that sum is! After collecting these since 1992, it's amazing to see all of them together in one big group! I'm just glad I was able to start when I did!

Hi Bert, ...Yes, I do have the Coquille River Signature Series piece. It was a welcome edition to my collection. Now if only Harbour Lights would make a conversion kit that would change the Signature Series piece into the limited edition...LOL! Bob

Jim Rutherford had a chart at the end of his HL suvival guides. In his last book the total retail cost for all LE's from 1991 to 1998 was:
Drum roll please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$10,034

Stephanie,
No I still have the two-piece card (It broke due to the spare house key stored under it in my wallet.). It is no longer able to traverse a reader - making store purchases a problem. It doesn't matter - mail orders are still possible!
I still don't have my Legacy... but I did get my latest mutual funds report... I lost a lot more money! In fact, I could have paid for my last several month's H-L's for what I have lost this quarter. Yeah, I know, leave it there - it'll 'come back'... but in who's lifetime?
I really do like these lights. I can't get over the GLOW - 442 Bald Head. Really nice. Wolf Trap... wow! Gotta go... buy-one-get-one-free for big bags of beans at the grocery store... then to my freeway exit with my 'Need $ for H-L's' sign....

Amen, I agree with everything being said. I just want to know one thing...... how's a poor graduate student suppose to keep up with all these GREAT new releases? A stipend only goes so far in the budget! I guess my credit card is my true friend..... Now where's that Owls, Head Maine LE piece ?

A stipend only goes so far in the budget! Retirement checks don't go much further, but somehow we manage! I am also looking forward to Owl's Head. I hope it's one of the 2003's! Bert

John, If you are serious, I am always intereseted in woodworking tools. I am continually building display cabinets for lighthouses, amoung other tasks for my beloved better half, and am always interested in tools, which are regulated to the garage, but are used in the creation of useful items that save us money at the furniture stores.

Dick,
I've had to curtail the ww-ing due to a resurgence (with a vengence!) of my childhood asthma following some medical problems. I used masks, dust collection, and an air filter - but the breathing still gets labored, perhaps partially due to the weird woods (tropical hardwoods) I used in my woodturning business. My tools are a bit heavy to ship to CO anyway, mostly Delta/Rockwell. I am hoping I have a display case or two left in my stash of amaranth, bubinga, cocobolo, mahogany, padauk, purpleheart, rosewood (Honduran), and zebrawood. I have enough of that mahogany and zebrano for a case or two, the others are just a few boards. Yeah, they'd be gawdy... that Eddystone might be the only lighthouse you'd see! Now, if I could afford the glass...
John
PS 10-14 I must really have it bad... I am now lamenting the fact that I forgot to add the new Battery Pt., CA lighthouse to that order!
