There's something about a red head. I mean there's something about a red lighthouse. And you probably won't find more red & white lighthouses than in Canada.

So, Here's the photos of La Martre Quebec that Paul took under extraordinary pressure one morning at Rosemont:

This HL piece strikes me as having two lights on the same piece. First you are struck by the red of the nautical lighthouse and then by the fact that a spiritual lighthouse is behind the nautical one shedding its own brand of guiding light. Everytime I go down the hall, in my home, I view a large drawing of a lighthouse in the midst of a storm and the white robed arms that are also in the picture behind the light.

This HL replica will make a nice addition to my collection and I will love all the chatting it will start. Thanks Paul and John for the nice link.

JC... especially a redhead with green eyes! Derith... indeed. It is a very pretty piece and I too look forward to owning one. Does anyone know what kind of church (Catholic, Lutheran, etc.) that is?

Tim,
Given that Quebec is very heavily Catholic, this would be the odds on favorite. I'm really looking forward to La Martre since I was born in Quebec.

Dave... that's what I was figuring as well, and not that it makes any difference. Curiosity got the best of me. Terry and Paul... thanks for the links!

Mariann says that this one is a "must have". I love when she says that!

I'm partial to lighthouses with red coloring. This one looks like it will be a real popular light for HL.

Got to see this piece firsthand and upclose at Rosemont. It's another great addition to the HL family! The piece is really unique with having a church on it! I am a little disappointed with the size of it overall. I think it should be a little bigger.

First Bob, then Randy; Bob, did you notice that this is not an American light?

Randy, I really like the size. This lighthouse right now is my favorite of the year 2000 and that is saying something.

Maybe it is the church, the red tower, the multi-level of the land and cliff, I really think it is the overall effect of everything about the piece, as it all comes together and becomes very complete. It really has no bad angles to view it from; it really makes a statement to me of what lighthouses represent.

When I was shooting the close-ups, I had the feeling that I was actually there walking around on the property, looking for that perfect angle to take the best picture possible. By the way, the weather was beautiful when I was there; there were big old fluffy white clouds against a clear deep blue sky and just a bit of a nip in the air.

But no, I wasn't there. I was down on my knees at Rosemont with a couple of 1000 watt lights blazing on the back of me and drops of sweat falling on my lenses of my glasses causing me problems seeing.

It was great while I was there in La Martre, Quebec... I guess that means I better start planning the trip!!

This is a beauty. I would love to see it someday in person, that is for sure!

Picked up our La Martre this weekend. Its a beautiful LH with the red of the tower being so much in contrast to the white of the church. Not the biggest one ,which fits real nice in the curio.

Walked into my dealer today and was told that LeMartre was in and did I want it. Needless to say it is now in my curio and what a nice addition this one is. I've wanted this one from the first time I laid eyes on the pictures of it. Being assigned to a parish (St. Martha's) made this one a must have. Thanks HL, another great light!

This lighthouse is truly a looker and would've been super even w/out the "house of light" next door.

Can't remember if anyone ever posted this link to La Martre. If not, here 'tis. Wonder if there is a light in the church (range lights)?

Does anyone know what kind of church it is? My bet would be catholic since it is in Quebec.

Initially I was not going to get this one as I felt that the church sort of overpowered the lighthouse, not that I'm against churches! But I got to thinking that it would look nice displayed with the Christmas pieces because it has the church and the lighthouse is nice and red! So I got it but have only one complaint. The C of A is very sketchy, very little info about the light.

The Lighthouse Sleuth is gonna have to motor on up to LaMartre to find out much about the light, the town or the area. I have used several search engines trying to take up the challenge of what denomination is represented, but there ain't a whole lot of info on this area. 'Course, it would help if I was more up-to-date on my French, but don't think even that would help that much.

Sounds like we need a Mombo & IO roadtrip!

Dave
