All I can say is WOW!!!! What a bargain this lighthouse is. It is by far one of the best lighthouses produced by Harbour Lights to date. This is a must have lighthouse even if you have little interest in Florida Lighthouses.

Hillsboro Arrives !!!!! ?? did it ever leave San Diego Sean ?

Your not going to rub it in with every new piece that you get yours as the UPS truck leaves the shipping dock and drops yours off before returning to the terminal are you ?

Maybe Sean had the beaver tunnel into the warehouse so he could be first?

Alternatively, perhaps the HL office folks just figured it would be easier to give him a key to the warehouse to pick up his new pieces?

OK, lessee here...

Today is April 16... Hillsboro should be in West TN by oh, the end of June? Probably sometime this millennium, anyhow. Good thing they upgraded to that pack mule!

I've updated the catalog page for Hillsboro Inlet FL. Paul has taken some great detail shots. As with all similar catalog pages, if you click on any of the smaller photos, a larger version (2X) will open in a new window.

Hey Kim, are you reading this?

Hey Mark, if you want your lighthouse quicker I will just load Hillsboro into Air Force One and have them swing by. I think they would be happy to do anything as long as that pesky Beaver Family stays away from the Potomac.

Hillsboro Inlet reached Colorado today where I picked it up from my local dealer. Impressive piece with a lot of detail, but the thing that stands out the most is the size, tall, tall, tall. Even though I had seen the comparison picture with Sanibel it didn't seem to sink in till I looked at them side by side in person. Anyhow, I am pleased with HL latest creation and it is a very nice addition to the collection.

Hillsboro made it to the northcoast of Ohio today and we were really impressed. The size of the box will give you an idea of just how big this piece is. This was well worth the wait.

Hillsboro arrived at our dealer in Michigan on Tuesday. Now it awaits us to pick it up. Can't wait to see it - our dealer tells us it's really great.

I looked at a map today to double check, Colorado, Ohio, Michigan. Missouri IS in between Colorado and the other two. No Hillsboro in MO, called the dealer today. Can anybody show me how to make the frowny faces. I need one to post.

I called all the dealers I know of here in northern Indiana. None have it yet. I'm ready to replace the picture in my curio with the real thing.

Hillsboro arrived in St. Louis yesterday. Just picked mine up. This thing is so big they probably had trouble squeezing it through the Arch. Certainly worth the wait!

Picked up my Hillsboro yesterday. I'm in Virginia Beach, VA. That's just about as east as you get.
I stood in the store for about 15 minutes just gawking.
Well done Younger family.

Hillsboro got to my dealer on Wed the 21st in South Central Pennsylvania. I didn't get to pick it up till Thurs. Fantastic piece of work-again HL has outdone themselves! (My dealer is on the autoship; the other ones she ordered always come in a month or two later)(in case that helps pinpoint the mule train).

My dealer in Reno, NV called me on Wednesday to say she was shipping it to me here in Florida. Our dealers in this state seem to be the last to receive and this NV dealer is on autoship as well. I will be awaiting the UPS man on Tuesday. Since I am a Floridian and have been up close and personal with the actual light, I am very excited and ordering a new curio so I won't have to move things around.

When I photographed the light I could not get near it because of it being in a gated community. I went across the inlet from it and found a house under construction. The workmen did not care if I went to the back of the house and so I took many great shots of the light. You will love the actual setting of the light.

The 'Zilla Has Landed! ~

A bold artistic statement by Harbour Lights.

This piece is soldout to dealers. If you want one (and you do) but don' have a reservation - getcher dealer list and start dialin'.

Its big, but it did fit in the car. :-)

I visited Hillsboro Inlet on 4/21/99 doing some lighthousing in Florida. This is a majestic lighthouse and was worth the trip to visit.I am waiting for my HL version to arrive. The reviews on this piece sound great. Maybe Massachusetts is last on the list to receive shipment. I hope not.

I picked up my Hillsboro today. Arrived yesterday at
my dealer here in E. TN.
It really was worth the wait. IMO one of the best that
HL has done. I think because of the size everything
is more defined. Wasn't certain I'd like this larger size,
but I find that I do. [On this particular piece anyway.]

WOW. The picture barely prepares you for the real thing. I got mine today, after finding it at an autoship place, and cancelling my reservation at another place. Nice 3 digit # too. Great piece. And H-U-G-E too! Also got Cape Lookout at retail. Hillsoborozilla has achieved NW IN.

Still wowing,
Stephen

How does this system work? I am waiting patiently for Hillsboro to be sent by UPS so it can be added to my collection. Then I go to e-bay and someone has received their's and now has it up for sale. There's got to be a better way.

I received a card in the mail today advising me my "Hillsboro" has arrived at my dealer in Massachusetts. I was really busy today, and wasn't able to go pick it up. I hope I can get up to the dealer to pick it up tomorrow. I can't wait to see what it actually looks like.

Yeh!! Its finally arrived in Indiana!! My dealer called me this morning and told me my Hillsboro has arrived. Larry will be picking it up on his way home from work...I can't wait to see it. I guess I had better do some rearranging in the curio cabinet today. Ooooo it couldn't have come at a better time since this is my day off.

Hillsboro arrived in New Jersey via my dealer in Florida on Monday the 26th. One of the best yet. I was really looking forward to receiving it because I just saw this light in March. Went to the beach in Pompano Beach, turned north and when I looked up, there it was! Took some photos from across the inlet because it is on private property. Worth the money.

Returning home from a 3 day rope rescue training class, what did I find? You guessed it, Hillsboro. Direct from my dealer in Maine to my doorstep in Michigan.

It definately was worth the wait! I would have to classify this piece as one of the best yet. IMHO, Harbour Lights needs to do more of these smaller edition size "Specials".

Way to go Y&A

I have to agree with Todd, this is one of the best, maybe the best.

I received mine yesterday and WOW it is great.

I think HL would do quite well by producing these 5500 to 6500 pieces more often, say once a quarter or at least twice a year.

Hot and windy a high of 87 after a morning low of 61. For the weekend look for more of the same lows in the morning around 60 with a high in the upper 80s. Thats it from Cajun Country USA, South Louisiana.

Here's a photo Paul took comparing the Hillsboro with the previous "tallest tower", Ponce de Leon FL.

In the chat last night, someone observed that the 1900 picture shows 3 black segments and 2 white, while HL shows 3 white and 2 black. Based on the calendar photo I see, HL's is correct. Must have been a daymark change along the way.

Hillsboro Inlet Certificate Error:

The certificate reads:
"...the iron skeletel tower was anchored by six huge iron piles..."

Actually there are eight piles.

The 1907 Post card also refers to six piles, instead of eight. Also the "Photo Taken 1900" on the back of the card would have been taken my very fantastic camera since the tower didn't exist there until 1907.

Corrected Certificates will be printed and available soon. Call Harbour Lights at 800-365-1219.

I am so envious! I have yet to see Hillsboro in Texas. I had ordered mine from a dealer in Florida, but was told last week I would still have to wait. How come mine is taking so long??? I can hardly wait and already have a spot picked out for it. Congrats to those who have already received theirs!

Walked into a dealer in Rhode Island today. They received shipment of 2 Hillsboro Inlets yesterday. They are now down to one.

I had been waiting for one from another dealer, but after seeing the lighthouse in person I just had to have one today. Must be going Wacko.

Now that is one tall, tall tower. Is this a different scale than they have been using or is it that much taller than the buildings? I was there and I don't remember it being that much taller than the buildings.
It will dwarf the other lights in the collection for sure.

Picked up my Hillsboro yesterday after a call from my dealer that it had arrived in southern NY state. Very impressive!! The detail work on porch of the house is tremendous.
I'm just glad I found the forum a month or so ago. I had no intention of purchasing Hillsboro, too much money, never visited it etc. Then I started reading the Hillsboro hype, realized very quickly that I would regret in a very short time not getting one. So I stopped at my local Hallmark and asked if their autoships were reserved. They weren't, but when I picked mine up yesterday the 2nd was spoken for.
Thank you, particpants of the forum for allowing me to see that Hillsboro needed to be part of my HL collection.

Finally saw a Hillsboro today. My first impression was the same as Jake's above, is the tower that much taller than the buildings? I haven't managed a trip to see Hillsboro myself, but it sure looked like the tower was to a different scale than the buildings.

Can anyone who has seen the real thing comment?

Rick,

My sources indicate that the real tower is 136 feet tall. In Paul's photo (in John's post above,) it seems that the tower in the HL is about six times the height of what appears to be a single-story dwelling on the sculpture. Assuming conservatively that the dwelling in real life is 20 feet tall (it's probably less if it is a single story,) then the tower height on the sculpture works out to be only about 120 feet. So if anything, the building on the sculpture appears to be too large for the size of the tower, and not the other way around.

Of course, I still have not yet received my Hillsboro HL, and I have never seen the real LH either, so take this all with a grain of salt.

Did anyone notice the high bid on the Hillsboro HL on eBay? It appears Hillsboro HL may disappear faster than originally anticipated. The bid hadn't closed yet but was already up to $177. I think Younger & Associates may have created a real winner with this piece.

Does anyone think that a new collector will be able to find a Hillsboro at retail on store shelves in the near future? Could this latest piece actually sellout and only be available on the secondary market? There seems to be a lot of speculation going on regarding this HL. I haven't seen any on display at a dealer as of this time. I guess most everyone of them that was delivered was already spoken for. What do you think?

Keep in mind that about one third have been shipped to dealers. Another third will ship about May 15 and the final third about June 15.

Undoubtedly, some collectors made 'reservations' for more pieces than they planned to buy. So the first one-third will disappear quickly, the second third, less so, and the final third should result in enough to meet the needs of those who want one. Assuming there is not a lot of multiple buying for quick profit.

If you know of stores that have Hillsboro on display to sell, please let Rick Mau know at Retired@Retail.

In the pictures I took last September you can see some of the buildings around the tower at Hillsboro. Trying to measure them in the picture they do appear to be about 1/6th the size of the tower.

Hey Dave! Was it windy that day or are the trees growing in that direction because of the constant conditions?

Finally got my Hillsboro, and it wasn't even the one I reserved. I was making my semi monthly trip through the local shops when I saw it, on the back of the shelf. I just had to have it. All I can say is this HL is large enough to be a real lighthouse! This light really reminds me of my past trips past Hillsboro, and makes me want to visit again since it has been relit.

It's time to close the thread John. Maybe you can start one titled AH or After Hillsboro.

Bob,
Photos taken the week before the hurricane hit last Septemeber. Maybe the wind was practicing?

Got a call from my dealer's main store. My Hillsboro finally arrived, but they still have to send it over. Maybe the UPS guys in our area still think the strike is on. Seems like the truck takes an awful long time to get here from California. Maybe had to detour around some downed trees.

Got my Hillsboro in the mail yesterday.

It really is a ZILLA!!!

The lighthouse's metal work; the best palm tree I've seen yet (thankyou Bob Y.); the houses and walkways; the wet sand between the rocks and the beach; the lattice work under the porch.

WOW
