Fairport Harbor OH (HL251) and Sanibel FL GLOW (HL429) began shipping to dealers on August 8.

As usual, auto-shipments commence first, then initial orders are filled.

Thanks for the info, John. I will look for the new arrivals on the east coast shortly, I hope.

That $90 MSRP on the Sanibel ain't cheap!!! Fortunately I don't have to, but I would hunt for the LE if I was looking for one.

Man, $90 for the Sanibel glow seems high! Glad I have the LE on this one.. This LE is still pretty easy to get ahold of and at a very reasonable price. Why would you want a $90 glow?

I agree with the general consensus. I would rather have the LE that a $90.00 GLOW. I only paid $100 for my LE a couple of months ago. Don't get me wrong I do have some GLOWS for those that the price is a bit too spicey for me right now but $90.00 seems a bit spicey for a GLOW.

I also paid $100 for the LE, and the GLOW version doesn't have both houses on it.

It may take a bit for the official review of Fairport. But first glance last night at my local dealer revealed a very attractive piece. The tower is one of the cleanest I can remember...sort of a cross between Minots Ledge and Buffalo. The house bears a resemblance to Charlotte-Genessee's, and there are some nice doo-dads on the sculpture (a life boat encased in a cast-iron berth, an oil shed, etc.).

Not a WOW™, but probably their best Ohio effort after Toledo Harbor (in my opinion, one of the unsung gems in the HL line).

As for the Sanibel GLOW. In my opinion, not worth $90. I mean, not even close. The paint is sloppy, one of the houses is missing, and about the only thing going for it is the tower. Thumbs way down. If it had weighed in at $65-$70...maybe. But then again, no GLOW should ever be in the price range of a limited edition piece, in my opinion. So I'll revise my statement and say, "$50-$55...maybe."

Just got a call from my dealer in MN. Both Sanibel and Fairport are in. I will buy Fairport but will skip buying Sanibel. I do not understand why HL's made Sanibel when the LE's are still out there.

IMHO, this continues to be a problem that Harbour Lights refuses to listen to it's collectors about. I put this problem right alongside the 9,000, 9,500 and 10,000 Edition Sizes. Harbour Lights has already found a way to mask the breaching of the 10,000 limit with timed releases. The Statue of Liberty is probably already well above 12,000 editions. If they follow what seems to be their plan you will also see a SOL GLOW before 2004. All I can suggest we do is keep voicing our opinions about GLOWs released to soon.

The detail photos of Fairport Harbor OH are fresh from Paul's camera. You can see them at:

Rod Watson's photo of Fairport Harbor is our 'photo of the fortnight' at http://www.HarbourLights.com/default_NF.htm
to fix the link...

Bill, I just saw the Sanibel GLOW at my dealer's, and I couldn't agree with you more on all counts. Especially since I acquired a Sanibel LE a couple weeks ago ( from right here in the Marketplace) for $110. Both houses and all . . .

If the Sanibel LE was a WOW, I guess that would make the GLOW edition an OW!

I just received my Fairport Harbor today, 1/4/01. It's not what I would call an exciting piece but the workmanship is there. I would give it a 3 plus out of 5.
