I have been looking for some information on a Pt. Fermin variation that sticks in my head. Thanks to Daniel I am aware of the artist's initials next to the flag but I seem to remember that there was another variation that had to do with the either the colors or a mold change. Can anyone help me with this and either point me in the right direction or set me straight?

I seem to remember a change in the color of the ventilator ball. I know mine was pastel green color.

I can't find the pictures just yet, but the cross timbers up in the gable of the roof were deeper and shallower. I think the change was from deeper to shallower to make it easier to release from the mold.

John - I hope you can find the pictures.
Lou - I hadn't heard about the color of the ventilator ball. Everyone that I've seen is a green color.

Rutherford states in his guiding light that there was a mold modifacation because of production problems. Not a redo but modification to the existing.

I don't recall the ventilator ball color change at all. This change is the easiest to spot. Numbers below 3328 do NOT have the initials; Numbers 3714 and higher have the initials. If you have one in between, please report what your number is and whether it has the initials or not. Check yours anyway and report if yours is different than expected.

I have 3 or 4 Point Fermins but they are buried somewhere in my storage area. If I see any in the front I'll let you know re the above inquiry. Bob

John - I compared the 2 Point Fermins that I have and there is a considerable difference in the depth of the cross member between the 2 pieces. The lower number piece #1061 has deep cross members and the higher number piece #1976 has shallow cross members. The difference in depth between the 2 pieces is about 1/64 of and inch. Is this what you remember or is this just the residue left over from using a mold over and over?

I don't think there would be just that much difference. And considering where the initials show up in the production run, what you see may be just material left in the mold from the previous casting.
But that is the area that I recall had the differences.

I have #4800 and I there are no initials on it that I can see. In fact, it looks like in that area there is a shallow "scrape" where it was lightly gone over with something to remove them?? Unfortunately I can't take a picture to show it. Anyone else have this?

Interesting... maybe when the CF found the initials, they simply scraped the master mold to remove them... However, I think the initials were discovered well after the piece had retired. Hmmmm. The MC initials also appear on Bald Head and Pemaquid Point. Bald Head Pemaquid Point

Here is an other question to add to the list. Did all the point Fermins come with peanuts or did the later ones come with the styrene insert.
I have a high numbered one (5438)and it came with peanuts.
