If we are to assume that most dealers' autoships for the lens have already been spoken for, it might be interesting to know approximately how many are out there. This might give some indication of the remainder of the 4000 that might be available in the future. I guess you only need to respond if your lens number is higher than the preceeding post. I'll start off with my number 602. Anybody care to chime in? Dave

How many lenses are accounted for? More than one but less than 4000. The number on mine? I don't have it yet but I think it will be somewhere around the low four hundreds. Bob

The orignal request was to post only those pieces with a higher number than any other one already posted. I don't think we need to use the server space to account for all 4,000 lenses.

I'm not sure if my topic has any value, but if rynomatt does have #3999, I suppose it confirms that all 4000 lenses did ship at the same time. That means that they're all out there somewhere, and the only way anyone can still get one at retail is to either start calling dealers all around the country, or rely on benevolent collectors to report any available pieces to Retired at Retail. Will they eventually turn up like Hillsboro, and the Panama set? I guess time will tell!

Actually, a usually reliable source told us last night in the chat that only about half of the 4000 Fresnels have been shipped. The rest are expected to ship the end of November or so. Jim Johnson

ddaniels... I believe you misunderstood rynomatt. They have piece number 1128. Knowing that 4000 Fresnel lenses were made, and the fact the rynomatt's dealer returned one because of damage, the actual count that will eventually be out there would be 3999... not including of course the damaged piece. We all know that HL will replace the broken piece, and the total number of Fresnels out there will eventually be 4000. In any case, just as Jim Johnson stated, the other half will be shipped the end of November. Tim - Keeping the flame lit... [This message has been edited by Torchbearer (edited 11-10-2000).]

Tim, Thanks for the clarification. Rynomatt's post just didn't sink in when I first read it. Looks like the high number as of now is 2005, especially if only about half have been shipped. Anybody got a higher number? Dave

Spoke with Michelle in customer service today, and she mentioned that they plan to have the rest of the LENS shipped to dealers by the end of November (2000)!

I still haven't heard from my dealer about my lens yet. I usually get a number in the vicinity of 424. This makes me wonder in what order, referring to edition numbers, does HL ship pieces? Maybe mine was shipped a long time ago and is sitting is some distributors warehouse some where. Everyone else around the country seems to get the newer pieces sooner than I. That includes other HL Dealers from the area. Bob

Hopefully, Santa will leave mine under the tree! as well as Whitefish point and Hereford Inlet. I told Becky it would make a nice "tree topper".

I was at my dealers Tuesday to pick up Hereford Inlet. She said that she had talked to Harbour Lights on Monday and they told her that they had shipped her Fresnel Lenses last weekend.

Well I picked up my Fresnel Lens today and it's #1252. I was kind of surprised that I didn't get my usual numbers that range anywhere from 420-440, give or take a few numbers. Same thing with Eldred Rock, I got #2370. My Sister's Island is #422, followed by my Hereford Inlet Christmas piece, #421. I also picked up the gold lettered Beckoning Beacon today. By the way my fresnel has a slight green tint to it. Once again, my wallet is a lot lighter than when I walked into the dealer. I also bought a couple of Dept 56 things for my wife. "It's only money..." Bob

Marblehead, Ohio is the oldest lighthouse in continuous use on the Great Lakes. It is Ohio's pride and joy and flashes green. Santa has whispered to me that Fresnel #1964 is GREEN.

If you need to find a lens, don't randomly call dealers. Call HL. They found mine for me last month.

As I stated in another topic I had #1692 and picked up #573 when they had an extra.Bob, I would trade my low number with you if you want to get closer to your usual numbers.I just keep it in the box until I decide I want to give it as a gift. Kevin

I got a Fresnel for Christmas but I can't read the number. It's either 2150 or 3150. And, it's green! What a beautiful piece no matter what the number! Thank you Santa!

I got mine from Lighthouse Depot on Sat. What a Christmas gift! It is green. Now for the number! It is one of the following - 2242 or 2742 or 3242 or 3742! I keep looking at the number and can't make up my mind to which of those 4 it is! Great piece, but someone needs to brush up on their printing of numbers!

Hi Joe, The numbers I have mentioned above look the same on the box and on the bottom of the plate! The same person had to have "printed" both set of numbers. Maybe I need to find someone who is an expert in reading hieroglyphics!
