After I got finished responding to Larry's topic about our highest flag# compared to the end of the production run of a piece, I decided to try to get a few flag#'s that are special to a numbers guy like me.

I would like to get the following flag#'s for a special off-shoot of my collection: #1111, #3333, #4444, #5555, #6666, #7777, #8888, and maybe even a #9999. I will also try to get these Flag#'s too: #1000, #2000, #3000, #4000, #5000, #6000, #7000, #8000, and #9000.

I'm willing to pay cash but would also consider trading some of the many doubles I currently have in my collection.

Remember, it doesn't matter which HL piece you have with one of the above flag#'s. If you want to part with it, please let me know and we'll try to work out a deal that will make both of us smile smile .

I'll keep you all updated as this special off-shoot of my HL collection progresses. I also welcome comments about whether or not you think I might be able to get all of those numbers listed above.

I just want to know how bigggg your house is Bob. To try and display/store all these pieces, if your successful, is going to require a small warehouse. I wish you luck and if I ever get up your way would love to see your collection.

My home is small compared to most. I did put a 24x20' addition on in 1999 so I would have more room to display my HL's. I think the new dimensions are around 65x24'.

My display includes all of my Anchor Bay boats, all my HL Lenses, and around a third of my HL LE collection (not counting all the doubles). Christmas pieces and ornies only come out at Christmas. Glow's stay in storage.

I didn't want to put us in a position of being overcome with HL's by trying to display all of them. I try to rotate the display every couple of months by bringing pieces out of storage and putting the current display back into their boxes.

I did vary slightly from that when I brought out almost all the original 5500 edition pieces. I didn't realize how much I liked them until they were back on display. For awhile, I had put the old pieces away thinking the newer pieces were so well done that I wanted them on display. Now I realize the true beauty of Harbour Lights lies with their original creations. Many of these beauties come with a memory of where and who I bought them from.

Some people might think that HL's are just pieces of cold-cast resin. I look at them as memories of what they represent and how I happend to become the lucky guy who owns them.

If you do get up here make sure you let me know as I would like to meet you in person myself. Bob and I are less than 15 miles from each other.

If and when I ever get some vacation time or retire, I plan on getting to New England in the fall for the colors. I will surely let you guys know when the time is. I figure it will at least be 2-3 years from now.

I think my search for these special flag#'s might be tougher than I thought. It's been two days since my original message and I haven't received one response. I'm a patient person. Sooner or later I hope to get a few of them if not all of them.

By the way, if any of you spot one of these special flag#'s on eBay, please let me know. It's tough to open every auction looking for special flag#'s.

Thank you in advance for helping me with my search!

My search continues! I did have one response about my request for special flag#'s. The only problem was the fact that I already have a piece with flag# 2222. At least it shows there is at least one person who read my request for help in locating some special pieces.

Thanks, Tom!

Bob, maybe we can get ahold of the person who doctored the flag on the CH2 a little while back and see what they can do to help you out?

I'm not having much luck with my search for special flag#'s. It's been 10 days now and I've only had two replies. I did email Harbour Lights with the hope they might have a list of dealers that get those numbers, but I haven't received a reply.

It looks like this could be a very long process.

 Bob

Bob in all my years of collecting I can only remember three of these number? It is easier to collect matching double digits than what you are looking for.
I also thought it would be neat to collect these number but the time I finally found one I just had two many lighthouses and not enough room. The ones that I did see were 1000 and 1111 at my local store (They are gone now). I also saw a 4444 on ebay awhile back. Don’t remember the lighthouses but couldn’t forget the number. When you find one of these numbers they are hard to forget. I am watching ebay and if I find one I will let you know.
Good luck

Hi Dan,...I did see a flag#1111 a month or so ago on eBay but it was before I decided to try to get those special numbers. Like I said before, I already have flag#2222. I didn't want to try and get two or three digit numbers with all the same number because they are probably autoship numbers a collector gets and keeps.

Let me know if you see something on eBay that I miss. I just can't check every single auction looking for those special flag#'s.

Another week has gone by and still no replies to my quest for special flag#'s. I figured I would have found at least a couple of them by now.

One good thing did happen while I was visiting a few dealers looking for special flag#'s. I found and purchased an Artist Proof of the Anchor Bay USCG Life Boat.

I've left my phone number at a few dealers just in case something comes in. You never know!

The closest I have to anything like this would be my Execution Rocks, #6600. I also have a few "double-doubles", such as 5511 and 1199. Sounds like a big undertaking Bob. Best of luck!

It's a bigger undertaking than I thought, Jeff. I was hoping Harbour Lights might have a handle on where some of these special numbers might be, but they have yet to answer the two emails I sent them. I'm a patient person, and I can wait.

Some of those special numbers must be sitting on a dealer's shelves some where. It's just a case of finding them. I'm sure the dealer would love to sell them to me.

It's been over five weeks and I've yet to find one of the special flag#'s I'm looking for. I even sent an email to every HL Dealer in New England and New York that had an email address listed at the HL web site. Many of them replied, but no one had any. Cape Annie's Lights down in Sandwich, Massachusetts, has sent me a couple of emails reminding me they are still looking and will let me know if one of my special numbers comes in.

Maybe I should offer a cash reward to anyone who locates a #1111, #3333, #4444, #5555, #6666, #7777, #8888, or #9999 for me. How about I pay a finder's fee of $5.00 for any HL with one of the flag#'s listed in this message. I will send you five bucks as long as I can buy the piece for a non-inflated retail price or close to it. Here's your chance to make a few bucks while you're out browsing at HL dealers nation-wide!

The best I came up with is a #4442 Selkirk.

No dice, but awfully close! :p

Bob, I'll look at the Hallmark in town next time I go (my dad's Bday is in a few days, so I need to get a card anyway). I'll check the shelves for you. Perhaps there will be one... smile

Thanks, guys! I appreciate your trying to help me out with my quest.

I've been "trolling" eBay doing spot checks on HL's hoping to find one of the special numbers I'm looking for. I've even contacted many eBay sellers who consistently offer HL's at auction but do not list the flag#'s.

No luck so far but time is on my side!

Still no luck in finding the special flag#'s where all four digits are the same. It appears my only hope is eBay and that has produced nothing so far.

It's amazing how many flag#'s have been so close with three identical numbers in a row with a non-matching number at the start or end. I've seen flag# 666 and 444, but none with all four numbers the same.

I was hoping to have at least a couple by now. It's begining to look like this venture may not happen.

 Bob

Over two months without a score,...frustrating! I've decided to abandon this so-far unsuccessful project. My reward program is also terminated. Special thanks to many of you for trying to assist.

It's time to spend more time thinking about boating!

The day I posted the last post in this thread, I ended up purchasing HL110 flag#1111. I was very glad to get it and to find out it was a lightning rod piece. Now I have two HL110's with rods. One will be for sale and not flag#1111. Send me an email for further details if you are interested.

Congratulations Bob
That is a neat number and to make it even more special it has a lighting rod.
Is it a Malaysian or Canadian made?
If it is a Canadian, you may want to keep the other one so you can have a Canadian version and a Malaysian one. laugh

I just checked the both of them. The HL110 Flag#1111 is Malaysian made. The other HL110 is flag#490. #490 doesn't have a Canada sticker on the bottom, but it is definitely Canadian made. I also have flag#1756. I really don't three HL110's.

Why not except for the obvious.
"WHERE TO PUT THEM ALL"
Each one you have is a variation.

Canadian made.
Malaysian made with lighting rod
Malaysian made with out lighting rod.

But in real honesty One Malaysian is enough.
It doesn’t mater if the Malaysian has a lighting rod or not as long as you have the Canadian that does.

Nice collection for the #110
Now you need the California made version.
laugh
