Working through a sinus infection, and (politely) telling a 9 year old and 5 year old that they had to go see the biggest waves of their young lives, the three of us made a trip to Grand Haven to get some of these 12-14 foot waves out on Lake Michigan this evening. They were excited until about 10 minutes into our short walk from the pierhead park to the sand when Michael realized the sand in the eyes wasn't the best (thanks, Mama, for bringing the exta sunglasses!). I needed a picture of how we were positioned. I had my camera on the tripod, Michael was standing back to back with me (I was his windblock) and then Mary was stacked against him, back to the wind. All the while, my tripod legs are buried in the sand and I'm holding the camera/tripod down for stability and something to hold onto, LOL! I have more pictures on my Facebook profile for anyone interested in looking. They're the same composition, just different wave compositions. Enjoy! It was a "blast"!

That is amazing! I saw it in your avatar first and really liked it. I have gone out in a hurricane (only Cat 1) to see REALLY big waves and have never seen them yet. On your Facebook page...when you click through the pics, that is great!

Wow, awesome shot! Now, where's Trace Adkins? I thought you promised "eye candy?" :)
I'm not mad, I'm just from Philly! :)

The other part of Jen's great shot is the number of real idiots out on the pier . . .
Thanks for sharing, Jen. Have missed your photography.

Great pictures Jen. There was a guy walking out on the pier with a surfboard, then he shows up in a number of shots later, one he is standing up on his board riding a wave.
