So I get out of school on Tuesday, and have some time on my hands. To fill it, I'm thinking that lighthousing is in order...and my eyes are turning to the First State.

As of now, I'm thinking hop the Turnpike down early one morning (I already leave at 6:30 to get to school on time, why not lighthousing?) and head for the first lights up in Wilmington. Head down the upper coast, hitting all the skeletons, then down to Lewes for the amalgamation of a lightship, a restored fire-riddled light, a decrepit abandoned light, and two offshore lights. Head down to Fenwick to reshoot (last saw August 2000), then hop the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to save about 16 miles worth of gas...and see the breakwater lights better.

435 miles...$80 in gas...$10 in tolls...$15 in extras. A fun adventure.

Anyone else got tips? Where are the mugging hotspots in Delaware? wink

As you enter the city of Lewes there is a fairly big model of the East End light.

It looks like you got it down correctly. Taking the ferry back to NJ gets you closer to the 2
