Rules have changed. This year people can take a car ferry out to the island, we were told it is from Davis. We saw many cars and trucks on the island with people tent camping. I can only amagine sleeping with the light flashing over the tent all night. We made due with a view from Captain Jack's on Hackers Island. The weather was wonderful. There is also a Conch Tour truck that runs from near the lighthouse the 2 miles to the point. If you take the time at low tide to walk out on the sandbar you can pick up more conch shells than you, or you and your sister, can carry. Laura's front porch rail is covered with more than 80 shells. Our three day visit to Cape Lookout is a memory I will cherish. I also saw my first starfish on the sand.
