My boss gave me his time share and this will be my first time in Key West. cool I have Key West Lighthouse and a day at the dry tortungas on the agenda. And not to mention a day at Margaritaville cheers
However, any tips on getting out to Sand Key or American Shoal? Or anybody know if you can get to Loggerhead from Garden Key?
Any 411 is greatly appreciated!

Most boats are not allowed to land at Loggerhead Key. You may have to rent a separate charter from Key West.

From Mallory Square, the glass bottom boats will get you fairly close to Sand Key. On a rough day, when the reef is not great for viewing the sealife, the glass bottom boats will take you right out to Sand Key. I'm sure you can also rent a charter at Mallory Square to take you out to Sand Key.

If you check in at the Key West Lighthouse gift shop, they can set you up with a seaplane pilot that will take you over all of the reef lighthouses, all the way to Fowey Rocks. On a sunny day, the greens and blues of the water will be spectacular near each of the lighthouses.

On your way out (if you're driving), stop at Marathon and snap a quick picture of Faro Blanco Lighthouse, a private lighthouse that is part of a marina/resort. Spoontiques even made a statue of this one.

We were able to get a decent look at American shoal from the road. There is a bridge that offers a clear view. Do not remember the name of the road, but there are probably directions on one of the lighthouse web sites.

You can see Loggerhead from From Dry Tortugas or the boat. Take the all day trip to Dry Tortugas there is a lot to do.

Make sure you pick the right glass bottom boat ride. The one that looks like a submarine just takes you around the island while the large vessel goes out by Sand Key and gives you better underwater viewing of the ocean life and does go near Sand Island.

You can also get a boat out to Sombrero Key light - there are moorings out there for snorkelers.

You did very well. Many people don't see that many with more days or more trips.

By the way, if you go south again, you can see Fowey Rocks in the distance from the top of Cape Florida.

Carysfort, I am told can be see from the distance, the problem is most of the land nearby is privately owned. A boat trip to me is well worth it. It you rent a boat or go with a friend that has a boat, be careful as the water can be as little as one foot near the lighthouse.
