I might be in the Escanaba Mi area and want to know if there is a ferry that goes anywhere near the door county area?

Not in the winter.

The Spirit of LaSalle Cruise Line is a passenger ferry between Menominee, Michigan, and Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, but it only operates from mid-May to mid-October.

The only ferry from or to Wisconsin that operates in the winter is the USS Badger between Manitowoc, WI and Ludington, MI.

The Lake Express between Muskegon and Milwaukee does not operate in the winter.

You are right Pam, I didn't look far enough down on the link I listed above. Yes, it says their season is over. I thought the Badger used to run a longer season than the Lake Express.

Anyway, it is WINTER up here now. BRRRRR and the SNOW has started to fall.

Snow and cold is right Suzanne....
Fran, are you sure you want to come here this time of year?

Although the best images are snow images, IMHO!

There is one Ferry that does run all winter long, The Arni J. Richter between Door County and Washington Island. Watch it cut through the ice on these videos:

You might recognize a few WILD and FORI members in this video:

I am planning on doing this in June. I plan to go to the Fond du Lac area then drive up to Grassy Island, Menomnee, Sand Point Escanaba then Peninsula and back around to Kewaunee, Rawley and down to Illinois. I was thinking if I can get a ferry from around Peninsula light or Sand Point to Door county it would save driving time.

June of 2009? Where do I fall into all of this?! pillowfight The only two car ferries across the Lake are Lake Express and the Badger.
