OK....we leave in another week and a half and have figured out our itinerary pretty well.
We have decided to camp at both Grand Haven State Park and Traverse City State Park during our trip. What we need to know is...should we make campsite reservations at these parks or will there be some available. We plan on camping on sunday evening at Grand Haven and Traverse City on Tuesday Evening. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to everyone who helped especially Todd and Suzanne. Your help was invaluable!!!!!

GETTING EXCITED!! Akmn....Adam and Mindy

You better call and make reservations and see if there any openings there both very busy parks and hard to get in but the times your going you might be able to get in good luck

I would guess reservations would be best. Grand Haven was very busy when I visited and campsites were very close together. There is also a state park near Big Sable, (Ludington State Park).

You might want to make sure you plan at least 4 days to visit lighthouses on lower Michigan's west coast.

Back in June (14-20) I stayed at Traverse City State Park. During the weekend, the park was 3/4 full. During the week, it was only 1/4 full. While it was empty back then, I would highly recommend reservations.

Here is the number for Michigan State Parks Reservations at any campground:

1-800-447-2757
