We made this trip last summer, but I never made it in to post the pics.

Since it's a year old trip, I won't bore you with all of the details.

Lou,

The "details" are often times very helpful to others. Looks like you had some pretty weather for your trip down the Oregon coast. What month were you there?

Your picture of the Cape Meares light helps show how short the tower truly is!

Lou,

Details almost never bore us here. I just made this trip myself last month and it looks like you had good weather as we did.

It was a bit cloudy and rainy on on eday of our trip but the rest went well.

Go ahead add the details- or is the real reason you don't want to bore us is you can't remember the details. laugh

Nice pictures, Lou! Especially like the one of Yaquina Head behind the rocks. A unique angle!

I agree, details never bore. If there's any stories you can share, go ahead! smile

The bridge I believe was on cable the other night (History channel I think - it was on the Pacafic Highway). Oh and of course nice lighthouse pictures too!

Great pictures. Would love to hear the details. Very nice lights that I may never get out to see, so please tell us more.

It was a week long trip to Portland in mid-July 2004. We spend the last Friday of our trip driving along the coast from Newport to Seaside. The weather on the coast was great all day.

We ate breakfast in Depoe Bay at the Whale Cove Inn. It's the first time I have made it to one of the restaurants recommended in my U.S. Atlas. I highly recommend it. The waitress told us they see whales from the windows overlooking the cove & ocean several times a week. Occasionally, they even come into the cove only 100 yards away from the restaurant. If you go, be sure to pick up one of their cinnamon rolls. They're called "The Monster" and are a cube about 8 or 9 inches tall. We got one to go, and our entire group of 11 munched on it in the van all morning.

Next, we spent a little time in the morning at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. We went to see the whale from Free Willy, but found out she had died the previous year. It was still a nice aquarium, though.

On our drive north toward Seaside, we stopped at Yaquina Head, Yaquina Bay and Cape Meares. Every view along the coast in Oregon is more breathtaking than the one before. We also saw Tillamook, but I did not have a good enough zoom lens to get a shot of it.

I'll try to post pictures of this year's trip A.S.A.P.

Thanks for sharing your photos and story. The Bridge at Yaquina Bay looks like a cool bridge.
