CNN reported tonight that 5 people took shelter against Hurricane Bonnie in the 181 year old Bald Head lighthouse. This old tower just weathered yet another storm, and apparently saved a few folks in the process.
Let's hope Cape Hatteras light pulls through as well.

I climbed Bald Head last summer, and it is quite sturdy as you report. A little remote to get to but worth the ferry ride to this unique stone structure.
