How many members of this forum have had the honor of serving this Nation as member of the U.S. Coast Guard?

Mike, there are a bunch of you Coasties active in the forums. Sean Thompson, Rich Rohweder, Tim are the ones that immediatley come to mind. I know there are more.

Hi Mike, I served from July 65 to Aug 88. Variety of duties like Tim. Primarily SAR and law enforcement. Rich ------------------

Rich... are you the same person I have chatted with in the HL chat room, and known as RTR? E-mail me anytime and we will talk about our time in the USCG. Your fellow shipmate - Tim - Keeping the flame lit...

I was in the Coast Guard from February 1966 to June 1969. Most of that time I was the Executive Officer at the Coast Guard Base in Mobile, Alabama. We did SAR, maintained aids to navigation as well as servicing and repairs to buoys and three buoy tenders that were home ported at the base. Great memories.

Tim, Yep, I'm one and the same.
John, How come Tim is shown as not registered and with addresses of the last poster? Something wierd?

Rich, Noticed in another thread that Tim showed up with new name - Torchbearer I think. This may explain why he now shows unregistered.Repeating your # of posts may go along with the name change.

Rich and Dave... I asked John to change my UserName as it was causing some confusion with another Tim in the Forums. I hope I didn't cause too much confusion by changing. Tim - Keeping the flame lit...

Hi Mike, I served in the Guard from 1971 to 1992. I served on 3 icebreakers, 2 buoy tenders, 1 MEC and a WPB. I retired when I was due for a transfer and had a choice of HQ or Governor's Island. We have enough active and former Coasties here in the forums to man a small ship or shore station.

Hey there Mike T. You were in about the same time as me (from 1972 - 1992). Oh now... you would have loved the HQ tour (yeah, right!) I spent 2 1/2 years there. A truck load of Neverdull and Brasso couldn't clean all that brass! I also spent some time at "The Rock" (simply lovely!). The afloat units I served aboard were a WPB, WHEC, WMEC, and a WLB. Take care and I'll talk with you later. Tim - Keeping the flame lit...
