As Chuck mentioned in a previous post, the Houston Lightkeepers will be hosting an evening with Bill Younger on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Harbour Lights has generously donated a eek gold Eddystone for the auction to benefit the Sabine Pass Lighthouse. Get ready to bid on this rare collectible...100% of the proceeds will be given to the Sabine Pass restoration.

We will be broadcasting the event live via webcam. Chuck will post the information soon, but mark your calendars as it will be this Sunday at 5:00 CDT.

The Houston Lightkeepers would like to thank Harbour Lights for this generous donation.

It's only money...I would have prefered a raffle where we all had a chance, but four grand is four grand. Congrats to all those who put the affair together and HL for donating the gold Eddystone.

Congrats on all the money brought in to help Sabine Pass Lighthouse. I can't believe that someone actually spent that much money on a Harbour Light, but I'm glad that the money is going to help save a Lighthouse. I too would have liked the raffle idea, but at least it is going to a good cause. smile

BJ, you should have been in Baltimore last October! 5 to 8 thousand was the norm for some of the different pieces sold at auction at that Harbour Lights Reunion!

The "Evening w/ Bill" was great. We had a wonderful time and Chuck took a ton of pictures, that I'm sure he'd be happy to share.

I think part of the reason for the auction vs. the opportunity drawing was the time element. We did discuss this as an option, and had we not sold the piece for the $4000 at auction this might have been Plan B.

We are all so thrilled that such a huge donation is going to Sabine Pass Restoration. I do have a CD-Rom here that shows the restoration project and current and historic photos of the light. It was played on a continuous loop during the evening. I'd be happy to lend it to any of you who might be interested in seeing it. Drop me an email and let me know.

How about Sabine Pass Light for the next in the Restoration Series from Harbour Lights? HL can contribute $5.00 for each piece sold! I would gladly give an extra five for a figurine of this great lighthouse!

I agree, Randy. I would, too. Maybe we should post this one in the the wish list forum...

Sorry I have been missing in action but I have just recouped from the Bill event. How does he do it! He has such energy it's amazing and it's contagious. The drawing was plan B if we didn't reach the reserve. I would have loved to do the drawing because with an auction I knew I was out. I ask my wife about bidding $1K and I was almost out in the dog house for the night! eek I will post some pic's when I have them set. It was a great night but I was suprised that no one from the forum bid on the other items. Was anyone able to catch the event on the web? I am interested in hearing some feed back.

I watched from home after I got home from work. I knew that I was out of the running when I first tuned in. The bid was already way up there. Sound would have been nice if it doesn't cost to much extra but that would be less for the light. I just wish I could have been there. frown Terry
