Actually I fibbed a little earlier as the following image was shot about 5 minutes after the above one.... The sun disappeared, the color of the sky changed and the lights came on blinking!!

Paul,
Even though I was there I sure missed a beauty of a sunset. And, Old Michigan City was looking pretty spiffy when we left on Saturday evening. Your picture though is WOW!! Who says you have to be in California for a beautiful sunset over the water. We were truly blessed with wonderful weather which made working outside nice. Thanks for the pic Paul!!

Roy modeling a sample of our new Hoosier Lighthousing Club shirt... We had a short meeting after we met for breakfast at Lindo's in Michigan City, IN..

Some of the members went after the weeds in the flower beds as soon as we arrived at the lighthouse...

Jeff and Larry went to work on finishing up the trim in area around the spiral staircase..

Jeff trimming the trim for a custom fit...

Meanwhile some of the gals start on the club scrapebook project in Director Jackie's office.. Sue is showing them the images I have shot at all of the Club's events...

Kat and Dave H chatting while Kat is working...

Doyne laid carpet runners on the stairs to the basement level of the lighthouse, covering some unsafe 30 year old hard rubber step covers that were peeling up and tripping folks.. They are reaally nice and a little softer under foot..

The early morning sunshine turned quickly to cold and rainy... This didn't detour the brave HLC members from their appointed tasks.

It's a long way down the North fence and a lot of weeding to be done... more each year as we expand the flower beds.

Shellie took on the newest bed in the far Northwest corner, that we added last Fall.. She kind of resembles a Martian in her rain gear, blowing in the wind... rainy, cold and windy

Doyne having finished the stairs, adds to the base around the platform that we built last Fall.. Roy holds the other in in place for Doyne.

It's lunch time and this group is Lighthouse basement dining in the boiler-room which is next to the suppy room..

This is Lighthouse basement dining at it's finest as this group is in the supply room dining..

Roy has taken on the bolting of the boards to the platform.. The rain was starting to stop as I did a sun dance after lunch...

Larry measuring a piece of trim for Jeff to custom cut... The sun starts to come back out so I head back outdoors.

New Maple growth on the huge trunk of a very old Maple tree next to the lighthouse.. The sun is back, just call me Sundance!!

Jake (recovering from surgery) keeping Kat company as she hauls some mulch for the beds..

Kat and Dave adding the mulch to the North flower bed..

Doyne on to another project... replacing an unsafe handrail on the stairs to the attic. Doyne not only replaced the bad handrail but put a matching one on the other side of the stairs making it much safer to take tours up to the lanternroom in the future..

The gals are really getting a lot of pictures done for the scrapebook.. Judy has taken over the controls and is sending the images to Sue's printmate printer (between laptop and the book), which prints with a surface just like a lab photograph.

Last years tulips came up in force..

The gal's surprised Sue with a belated birthday/surgery cake and Sue shared the cake with two other birthday gal's.. Cindy and Mary. Then everbody got to enjoy the wonderful chocolate/raspberry cake!

Very Pretty and Tasty Too!!

The McBee's took on the job of cleaning the Brass railing..

We all went to 'Bridges' for supper when somone said, "We may have a nice sunset."

I gave Sue money to pay for the supper and said I am heading to the lighthouse for sunset pictures.. Carolyn asked to join me and we were off.. It was already down to low and at the wrong angle for the Old lighthouse so we headed to the Pier Light..

Judy and Kay caught up with us at the Pier Light and we all shot as we walked down towards the Pier ...

Until we found the spot and the moment for the money shot!

The sky always changes dramatically when the sun disappears below the horizon..

After a few minutes the lights start to blink and then all that was left was to time it to get the moment when both lights were on!

Paul, thanks for posting the pictures. Even though you all are working hard, it still looks like you are having fun. Robert and I volunteer here for work trips to various lights, and we know how much fun it can be, even though you are working hard.

Great pictures Paul. The club has done an amazing job over the last couple of years. If I had known you guys were getting Godfather's Pizza, I might have called in sick on Sunday just so I could make the trip to Michigan City. smile
