My favorite is Split Rock! We have seen many lighthouses since our first lighthouse trip to the Outer Banks in 1990. That's when I was hooked. We have since seen every lighthouse from Virginia Beach to Miami, either by land or plane. I like them all; never had a favorite until our trip to Split Rock two years ago. We flew into Minneapolis for a two-day weekend vacation. The first day we spent at the Mall of America (which was her day). After about eight hours in the Mall--we only saw about half of it. The second day was spent driving to Split Rock. It was a beautiful day for the first of October and the scenery on the way there was breathtaking with the trees and their vibrant colors. The lighthouse sitting on the cliff was spectacular. In my opinion, this is a hard one to top. We have seen many since then (including a lot in Maine), but we still have not seen one to match Split Rock.
