This past weekend I came across a magnet I just had to have. It is a Pacific Northwest light painted as a Campbell's Soup Can. It would appear to be a representation of an advertising poster of year's past. Has anyone ever seen something similar? Was this a Campbell's ad?

Dave,
I thouhgt I was the only one who had one of these! That same magnet has been sticking to our frig. for years now! I found mine at the flea market in Daytona a few years ago! Like you, I just had to have it! The people that were selling them had a whole booth full of Campbell's advertisements. This was the only one with a lighthouse though.

I also have one of the Campbell's Lighthouse magnets. I received it as a gift from a friend to add to my lighthouse collection. It states on the back it is from 1997 and the front it states it's part of the 100th anniversary edition.

Definitely appears to be North Head. Last time I was there, it was in need of some maintenance. I wonder if Campbell's would front the money to paint it that way? :-)

I shudder at that thought, though...

Thanks for the input Turbo. Mine doesn't have any of that info- must have the "knock-off" version! I contacted a group that collects Campbell's advertising material and they replied they had never seen the picture!

Would be interesting to know if this was used in advertising to any great degree. If it was 1997, you would think someone here would remember having seen it- only 3 years ago.

Dave

gotta get that spell checker installed!
