Which one would you pick, and what would you "fix" on it?

Mine would be Tillamook Rock, OR...I would re-do the structure in its original format (pre-1934 storm), make the rock higher and more imposing (like Cape Disappointment, WA), and add more monstrous, menacing waves, perhaps one slapping messily against the side of the tower (like Minot's Ledge, MA)...

If I could pick mine would be Portland Head. It would be of larger scale as a LE should be. It would also be done in winter surrounded by snow.

I like your idea, Sean. But if I can't copy your idea, I would wish for a remake of Nauset Light so that everyone who hasn't been able to get this wonderful HL would be afforded that opportunity.

I too like your idea Sean. There are many early pieces I would like to see in all their LE splendor with today's technology. Admiralty Head, West Quoddy, North Head... I'll go with a winter West Quoddy (at least right now!).

I would like to see Chatham with one dormer as it should be and maybe with the twin towers.bring nauset back home. Bill O'Brien oseabee

I must agree with Bill that Chatham should be redone with the correct number of dormers. The original twin towers (bringing Nauset back home to Chatham) would also be interesting.

The other lighthouse that I would like to see would be Southeast Light, Block Island, RI "on the move". Remember that this was moved long before Hatteras. Also, I would like to see Harbour Lights get the number of windows correct in the areas where the back porches are. In all of the reproductions of this lighthouse by HL, none of them have gotten this part of the lighthouse right.

I took this picture in July 2000. I think that Harbour Lights (with all the new techniques) would be able to get the porches and "all of the windows" as they really are.

Are the details here the same as the Harbour Lights SELH, Block Island that you own?

yep, You know my answer I would like to Alcatraz redone in the newer colors and the splendor of the new pieces.....not that I don't love the one I have but it would be great to set along the eldest!!!!!

My picks would be Sand Island, Wisconsin and Michigan City, Indiana. Sand Island is beautiful unlike HL's version. Michigan City is my pick for the ugliest HL's hands down. Can you say cat walk?

First, I'd pick Sand Island. I'd add more detail like todays sculptures. The other one would be Whitefish Point. I would leave off the huge lawn mower and add some wreckage from the Edmund Fitzgerald, like a broken up lifeboat. I'd also include the fog signal building.

Should have had wreckage on Whitefish, since it was introduced in the 25th anniversary year of it's sinking. Gotta say Spencer-Collins did a great job on their Whitefish, including the Big Fitz. (I know. I probably just broke a a few rules by uttering the S.C. name!)

Sorry Mike and Jim, wreckage from the Fitz would be tacky in my opinion. I hope with all my heart Harbour Lights would never make a buck off the misfortunes of others. If you want to celebrate the memories of the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald, wreckage is not the way to go. If this is a key ingredient then we would need to request airplane wreckage at the base of Peggy's Cove and Anacappa if it should ever be done. I'm not trying to offend but I do have strong feelings on this subject.

Though not my favorite, North Head truly deserves a more accurate treatment. Agree about Sand Island (but leave Michigan City alone - I really like its elegant simplicity). Agree about no shipwrecked Fitz.

Speaking of the Big Fitz, it'd be cool if HL did a model of the ship's bell in brass on a nice little wood stand. Maybe another auxilliary line here?

Gotta agree with North Head, but my first priority would be Grosse Point. Talk about an opportunity missed!

I also agree with Sean and the others that the sinking Edmund Fitzgerald on CSC's Whitefish is in poor taste. IMO, it doesn't honour the lives lost there; it's just a ghoulish knick-knack for curiosity seekers that demonstrates a complete lack of sensitivity for the crew and their survivors.

The one that I would like to see redone is Old Field Point New York. When I first saw the brochures presenting a barren deciduous tree on this snow-laden lighthouse, I thought this was going to be the hottest Christmas piece yet. I understood the larger production size of 10,000 just to handle all the collectors that would have to have it.

After I order it and just a few weeks before I purchased it, I was devastated to find out the deciduous tree was replaced with a pine tree. I feel that this decision hurt the sales and was a mistake. Yes, I know they were having a breakage problem with the deciduous tree. But If Harbour Lights could have just gotten a couple thousand out before they popped in the pine tree, At lest some would have made it to collectors unbroken. This would have made it the hottest LE since the Assateaque Mold I and would have put excitement back into collecting.

O’ ya!! I love Michigan City and Sand Island just the way they are. North Head could use some work.

West Quoddy with the full house. Too bad they missed an opportunity on the GLOW to include it.

North Head, Cape Blanco and Umpqua River need to be redone with the detail they deserve. The early west coast stuff was particularly sloppy.

I like Bob's suggestion of Nubble in it's Christmas splendor... but as a Christmas piece.

I agree with Sean and Art regarding the Fitzgerald. No offense to anyone, but let her rest and all those who went down with her. IMHO

No offense taken. One persons "making a buck of someones misfortunes" is another persons finding a another way to remember those who gave there lives. There's no bigger fan of the "Big Fitz" than I am, and certainly no disrespect to the dead was intended, however, given that 2000 was the 25th anniversary year of the disaster, it would have been nice to find another way of commemorating it.

That's the beauty of living in this country, we can all share differing opinions and still share a cocktail at the Reunion.

Hey everybody, no offense taken here either. But thats reality, lifeboat wreakage was washed ashore around the Whitefish Point area. I as a wreck diver, have visited some of the wrecks of the Whitefish Point Underwater Preserve. Shipwrecks had happened quite often in this area, thus the need for the lighthouse. The Whitefish Point Lighthouse is the cornerstone for the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. The most famous Great Lakes Shipwreck is the Edmund Fitzgerald and is probally the biggest draw to the Shipwreck Museum. I wouldn't consider it morbid or tacky to show a wrecked lifeboat. It was found there and could be depicted as such. Whitefish Lighthouse and the Edmund Fitzgerald are synonymous. Was anybody appalled when CSC portrayed the stern of the Fitz sinking into the water. I have great respect for the Fitz and her crew. Now if a frozen body clinging to the mast of the wrecked Myron was sculpted onto the piece, that would be tacky. If Anchor Bay released the Fitz, would you want it docked next to an ore loader, or with a wave washing over midship minutes before "Every man Knew"

One of my favorite light houses , but not one of my favorite HL's is Pigeon Point. The tallest LH on the west coast with an absolutly spectacular setting. Sorry, but Y&A did not capture this light in all its glory. No wonder it retired without selling out its edition size (9500).

I would like to have a Navesink that is not a monster(size).

Personally speaking yes I was and I certainly didn't buy it. I like the idea of a memorial piece. I simply don't think wreckage needs to be added or depicted. I would love to see a Fitz at the oar docks. That would be awesome if HL could do it (wishful thinking). How would we have all felt if the Coast Guard Surf Boat was depicted capsized or damaged? I see no difference. The crew of the Fitz were seaman hauling ore, I see nothing to be gained in their memory by highlighting their tragic ending and certainly Whitefish Point has it's own history that doesn't need the added Fitz wreckage to embelish it. If Harbour Lights could bring the two together without wreckage I would be all for it. Certainly the Fitz sailed past Whitefish in fair weather. If the lifeboat is still on display at the lighthouse then I would be happy with that as well.

I'd also remake Cana Island with the oil house and privy while adding the rock fence and stone beach.

Ouch! - Rumor has it this very decision caused a rift between Bill and BoB Younger. The leafless tree was one of Bob's original designs (although he did want it cast in a precious metal.) Purportedly the BoB Tree itself (you *do* have one don't you) comes from the very same mold as the one on the OFP model.
