Only wish we could stop by, Frank. Sounds like you are off to a great start. Must have access from the light? We will be looking forward to hearing more about your experience as a lighthousekeeper.

Yes we have everything we need out here. When we settle down after Labor Day I'll need a little advice on how to post photos. In our four days as Keepers we have had hundreds of visitors on the grounds and nearly as many on tours inside the house. Many have toured here before. Frank

Can't wait to see your pictures and hear about your lighthouse stay. Plenty of help here for posting pictures. I would be glad to help.

I was at Battery Point on July 31 but arrived too late to cross over to the lighthouse. I was kind of disappointed that I wasn't able to get my lighthouse passport stamped at Battery Point. I had traveled down the coast from the southern tip of WA to all of the OR lighthouses. I managed to get all the other lighthouse stamps.

Lorie, I hate to tell you this, but the keepers at Battery Point, also have the passport stamp for St. George Reef Light.

Our stay so far has been grueling. Muscles are complaining that I never realized I had. We've been non stop touring, cellar to lantern room. The tower needs major repair,so we've been generating as much revenue possible by opening the gift shop and touring when ever we have people milling about the grounds even if we are scheduled to be closed. We've noticed people on occation have shown up soaking wet, not smart. Frank

Wow...I missed both stamps after seeing the lighthouses. Frank is it possible to send me both stamps on a white paper that I could cut out and paste in my lighthouse passport? I would be more than happy to send you some money for your time and postage. Let me know. Thanks for any help, Lorie

We've noticed people on occation have shown up soaking wet, To paraphrase what is associated with our faithful postal carriers... "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays those Wackos from visiting a light!"

Incoming tide should be something you stay away from though. Very dangerous. I have to admit though, I did not check the tide charts - just had a look at the water levels and walked on over. Didn't stay long though, because I knew I was being stupid and I could be in trouble. Hurried back across. Check the charts!

From Battery Point, rule of thumb when tide is coming in, when water just starts to pool at the "dragon tail"(pipeline from treatment plant)shoreside, one has about 30 min to get to the mainland.

Failed to mention, local fisherman informed me of a drowning of two men fishing off this island 2 years ago due to a sneaker wave from the south. The same year a drowning of another off the jetty just to the east. No wonder I feel such sad vibes when the tide is in and everyone has gone.
