Thought many of you would be interested in learning about the future of Mispillion Lighthouse. The latest issue of the Cape Gazette newspaper tells the story of how the lighthouse will rise again -- as a private residence in Shipcarpenter Square, Lewes.

Mispillion - Cape Gazette

And we thought it was gone forever.

Great news Joyce. It has made my day. Lets all hope that this comes to a reality.

OOH YEAH!! OOH YEAH!! This just made my day!!! And all this time, I thought we had lost it...

The only thing I could have wished for is for it to be rebuilt in the original location, but it seems a little remote for safety. This area seems to have several other historic homes, and you can stroll through and tour. Though I may be looking at another Lewes collection which is more museum like...whatever-our light shall shine again!

I WAS WRONG! I WAS WRONG! I WAS WRONG!

It's not in the local landfill. I will now take this opportunity to apologize to the Burke family for misjudging them.

Long Live Mispillion!!

Congratulations to the Freemans!

From the most endangered lighthouse in the USA to one of it's shining examples!

John, it's the Freemans that we should be congratulating. The Burkes were the owners prior to the fire.

I was apologizing to the Burkes because I though the "secret owner, secret location" story was just a way to deflect any criticism for hauling the lighthouse to the dump. Glad I was wrong.
