Cape Hatteras reopened for climbing on Good Friday, Apr. 18th. You can read an article in the Viginian Pilot, plus see some of the pictures taken that day. Go to www.pilotonline.com and search Cape Hatteras. Happy Easter, Joyce

I will have to make it a point to get down there next month. I haven't been there in about two years.

Friends of mine have made the climb. They were required to wait at the top for 50 minutes because a woman collapsed on the 70th step on the way up - dehydration. The Twins told me there had been 10 ambulance calls to the tower since in re-opened for climbing

I climbed ol Hatteras for the first time in almost 5 years on May 14th. It was a really good feeling to once again stand at the top of the tallest Brick lighthouse in the US. Still it did feel a little bit strange to not see the ocean right at the bottom of the tower, as it had been the other 14 or 15 times I had been to the top.

My son and daughter-in-law, Chad & Barb, just called that they were approaching the base of Hatteras after having completed the climb to the top.. They are spending a few days on the Outer Banks after attending Barb's Family Reunion over the 4th weekend in North Carolina.. Next stop today is Ocracoke...
Onward to The Land of the Midnight Sun!
