I spoke with Mr. Younger on the subject of doing a "Now and Then" of Waugoshance Shoal. He said that not many people have requested that light, which I felt was a shame (although, I know everyone feels this way about one lighthouse or another). Waugoshance has an impressive history, not the least of which is the fact that it's still standing (barely) 90 years after being decommissioned. I've not seen the official records, but it's believed to have housed the first fresnel lens in the Great Lakes region, and the second fresnel lens in the entire country (after Navesink, although I know Sankaty Head, and Brandywine Shoal were also in that same time period). In the 1940's it was used for target practice by the military. Add a ghost to the mix, and what else do you need? Anyway, like I said, I've always had a fondness for Waugoshance. If any of you are interested, there's a fair amount of web material on it. Any of you that live in that area probably know more than I do. I'm always interested in learning more about it.

At first glance, it reminded me of St. George's Reef Light. Bob

Maybe this could be a new line for Harbour Lights: The Doomsday Lights
Waugoshance Shoal, MI Mispillion, DE Fishing Battery, MD Ft. Carroll, MD and many others
Maybe just do one or two a year, with a portion of the proceeds going to any associated preservation society. But I would like to see them done as they currently stand (some just barely), to perhaps call attention to their plight. Perhaps include a pre-addressed mailer in each box, so that the buyer could make a donation as well, if they so desired.
If (or should I say "when") the light is finally restored, re-cast it in it's restored state.

I saw an article about this light a few years ago in (I think) Lighthouse Digest. It's sad to see it in such disrepair. It would make a great figurine. It's very unique.

Can you believe it was used for bombing practice during WWII?
