Working with those Mark Sherman paintings got me to thinking about other ways Harbour Lights might use those images.

A quality T-Shirt with a quality silk screen of different regional lighthouses might be fun.

Another idea might be an embroidered patch that you could collect or have affixed to windbreakers or caps.

What do you all thing? What other ideas for these images?

I collect embroidered t-shirts or sweatshirts of almost all the lights I visit, when available. They hold out much better than the silkscreen versions and look nicer. If HL would ever do some nice quality embroidered T's of Sherman prints (simpler versions of course, just of the tower, etc.), I would jump all over them.

John,

Excellent idea. My thought is to have the HL society logo added to front of the shirt. No words, just a small logo. What a tasteful statement that would make.

How about a small window decal with the HL society logo, size of Ducks Unlimited, for our cars. Again, no words.

I vote for the embrioderd shirts/patches as well.

They hold up a lot better than a silk screen and look very impressive.

The only problem I see is out of all of Mark Shermans wonderful depictions which ones make it to the "fashion page"???

How about it all you "keepers" out there!!

What's on your wish lists??

This "Keeper" votes for the silk screen tee shirts with Mark Sherman paintings and for embroidered patches as well. The latter would do well on a jacket.

I like Rod, collect tees from wherever I visit, if one is available. I also like the Artisan tees that have lighthouses that were originally photos Bruce Roberts took.

Mike and Moby, what early bird gets you two up for early posting?

Hello Derith,

I'm supposed to be at work by 7:00AM so......

I get in early (between 6:00AM/6:30AM) and log in.

Love to see what's happening and "converse" with fellow lightkeepers.

I was wondering how the detail on the embroidered shirts would look. I have some bird shirts where part of it is silk screened and there is one area, like a bird on a branch, that is embroidered as a highlight. That's a possibility. But looking at my Sherman prints, it seems that the beatiful detail would be lost in the embroidering process. I would love to have a Sherman HL tee. How about one commemorating the move of Hatteras-with his existing Hatteras painting with some tasteful lettering saying something about the date of the first lighting and the date of the second lighting? Just a thought, since it is an upcoming LH event. Other events could also be excuses for making tees, or have one from each area of the country to start out.

I also like the idea of a car window sticker-USLHS has one that is clear and attaches to the inside. It would be great to have one on the car to identify other Wackos!

Dove,

Then we could honk at each other and put faces behind these names.

I agree with Sean...maybe Harbour Lights should offer larger prints by Mark Sherman. I would have loved to get my hands on the large original painting of Rose Island from last year's reunion.

I also would like to see a car window sticker identifying the owner as a HL Collector. I had brought this subject up in the past but not many people spoke in favor of it. Have times changed?

I'm with Sean and Bob ... I would love to see full-sized prints (high quality paper please -- no posters) for framing. How about hand signed & numbered limited editions? Maybe take a vote of society membership to decide which one(s) to reproduce each year. Don't need to go crazy, just release one or a few per year. I'm ready -- I have already cleared my dining room wall.

I also like the idea of window decals which can be applied to the inside of a window and large, high quality Mark Sherman prints. IMO some of his work is nothing short of glorious. I had not seen a lot of his work until the screensavers became available. WOW!

A lot of good ideas, however I'm still waiting for Mark Shermans production of New Point Loma and any future lighthouses where reunions are held. Seems fitting, proper, consistant, and makes old collectors happy.

I would like to see a Harbour Lights bumper sticker. I have never put a bumper sticker on my car before, but for HL, I'd make an exception.

I would also like to see a large print, possibly a limited edition of Mark Sherman's painting. I'm waiting for Grand Haven, but to tell the truth all the ones I've seen are a delightful way to visit a lighthouse everyday.

Window decals are another great idea. If I'm not mistaken Harbour Lights has had bumper stickers in the past.

OK Saint John, with all the talent that this group of 446 registered users has shown in developing logos for clubs, pictures and graphics for the web site, and names and signatures for the forums, how about a contest to develop a logo for a Harbour Lights Registered Wacko that could be used on window decals, bumper stickers, patches and tee shirts as our own universal recognition sign? If we could get Kim and Y and A to agree on our using the HL name within the logo, it could be used by the corporation to sell their merchandise as well.

I love JJ's idea ....
Also like Joanne have never put a bumper sticker on my car but, for HL I would definitely make an exception. I would love to have a Harbour Lights license plate to put on the front of my car. Indiana does not require front and back plates and would love to have one from HL to put on my car. Love the screen print Tee's and sweatshirt ideas too.
