I know requesting the same lights over and over is somewhat repetitious, but the more we keep our favorites requested the more likely our wishes may be honored. It's been said before and I'll say it again, "Harbour Lights listens to their collectors!" Therefore, I would respectfully request you list your top three choices so HL will be aware of what their collectors are hoping for in the coming years. My three choices: 1. North Light, Block Island, RI - I would love to see HL incorporate the sand dune that borders the west side of this light. 2. Great Point, Nantucket Island, MA - Although this is somewhat of a simple light, it would complete the Nantucket lights if you rule out old Brant Point at the Coast Guard Station. 3. West Chop/East Chop, Martha's Vineyard, MA- I'm still holding out hope that these two separate lights bordering the entrance to Vineyard Haven on the island, will be released as a set. Millions of tourists, boaters, and islanders have passed by these two lights traveling to and from Martha's Vineyard. I would predict a quick sellout because of that fact. After the three listed above, my alternate choice would be Cedar Point Light, Long Island, NY. It is a rather unique light deserved of becoming a Harbour Light. Huntington Harbor Lighthouse on Long Island is another interesting light. It also has somewhat of a unique shape that catches my eye. Oops, that's five instead of three! I'd better stop there. What are your choices? Bob

1) Pt Bonita (done right with the bridge and on the cliff.) 2) Little Sable Point, MI 3) Squaw Island, MI Since Waugoshance is being done for the Reunion, I almost feel guilty wishing for more. But,what do you do?

1. New London Harbor lighthouse (CT) - site of the fourth light station in the U.S.
2. North Dumpling lighthouse (NY) - very unique with miniature 'stone henge' and wind mill.
3. North Light, Block Island lighthouse (RI) - with the sand dunes and memorial brick patio.
You will note that one of my favorites is missing from the above list. I'll be glad when Spring gets here. (hint, hint)

Sure would be terrific to see Harbour Lights make the following in 2005. My three top picks would be for a number of others also in The Forum.....
1.Thatcher's Island,MA- A classic. Two beacons with a great history. 2.Pomham Rocks,RI- Tough to get a glimpse of, but great design and with the oilhouse included. 3.Hospital Point,MA-A great pyramid shape tower and of course include the fog bell.
Why not "A Gone But Not Forgotten" with the release of Bishop and Clerks, MA.
Society and Gift- Eastern Point,MA as the Society with lobster bouys on the fence and the breakwater and Ten Pound Island as the Society Gift Piece. Still can't believe HL didn't jump on these two with the release of the Perfect Storm.

Hi Beaconbyers, ..I was a little surprised when you mentioned you would like to see Pomham Rock Light made by HL. Pomham Rocks is a favorite lighthouse of mine. It is directly across from my former yacht club and only a short boat ride from where I keep my boat now. The light is very well maintained which is a credit to whoever keeps it that way. Your absolutely right, it would make a great HL! Bob

Beaconbyers, I also would love to see Pomham Rocks made. Bob sees it from the water, and my wife and I see it from the bike path that runs onshore behind it. It is well kept up. I would also like to see Windmill Point, Vermont done. Nice small light from a state that has had only one made by HL. Still trying to figure which would be the third. So many to choose from. Bert

Ah, a request for Hospital Point Lighthouse is interesting. Don't recall seeing that one requested on the forums before. Nice choice.
Thacher's Island is good too. That's had numerous reqests in the past.
Lots of good ones mentioned above.
I'll have to go with Vermont too.
1. Windmill Point (1st lh on Lake Champlain to be relit)
2. Isle La Motte (2nd on Lake Champlain to be relit)
3. Sodus Point, NY

Finally got my list down to the last of the three that I would like to see made. Every year the NELL (New ENgland Lighthouse Lovers) group has a trip in early January called "Lighthouses, Hot Chocolate and You". THis years trip will be to the Hospital Point LIght in Beverly along with the rear range light that is in the steeple of the church. Derby Wharf and Fort Pickering (Winter Island) in Salem and finally my third choice for a light which would be MARBLEHEAD, MA. The reason that I think this would make a fine addition is that it is the only skeleton light in New England. It is a very nice light and I believe it would make a fine and interesting LE. HARBOUR LIGHTS ARE YOU LISTENING? Bert

Two of your choices, Derby Wharf and Fort Pickering (Winter Island) are in Salem, MA. Do they make good candidates for next Halloween?

Originally posted by Bob M: my alternate choice would be Cedar Point Light, Long Island, NY. Yeah, love for good old Cedar Island. I, of course, am biased! Huntington Harbor would be interesting. I know Pam Setchell (of the Huntington group) has lobbied hard for its creation. Ron's suggestion of North Dumpling is also intriguing. I'd really love to see it done when it was an actual light station--that would be a great piece (with chicken coops and the sluiceway). Although, I'd have to say the miniature Stonehenge would add an unusual element to the replica! Of course, you couldn't do a modern day version without the amphibious vehicle that currently resides behind the lighthouse.

bobo, They certainly would make excellent choices for Halloween. I think it would take a great imagination to do such a thing. They might also be great sellers in Salem. Halloween is the busiest time of the year for Salem, even though it still gets rather crowded even in summer. Bert

The proximity of Derby Wharf Light to the center of town would probably make it a good seller. You could stand next to the stores and see the light. Salem is a wonderful area to visit if you happen to be driving by. Victoria Station offers some of the best prime rib you could ask for. Derby Wharf is a public park and you can see Fort Pickering Light from there. Jump in your car and drive up the street a ways and you can pull right into another park where the Fort Pickering light is located. Easy access with no private property to cross. Bob

After seeing them today (yesterday...is it midnight?!?!), I can vouch for the same pieces as Bert. Each of these is long overdue, and each is well deserving of a fantastic HL piece. The funny thing is that I have not read this topic in a few days, and was going to list the exact same lights. Each of them stunned me that much. I'll have photos in a couple days when I get them all together...

I like Bert's selection of the Marblehead, MA Skeletal tower. I think it would be neat as a Christmas piece some year with the strings of Christmas lights (from top to bottom) making it look like a Christmas tree. Maybe Harbour Lights could have actual mini-lights (or fiber optics) that could be turned on and off.

Here I go again:
1.) Point Bonita with bridge, cave, and arch in the cliff. (Just about to give up on this one)
2.) Ceder Point would be easier than Bonita.
3.) Point Sur would be nice.

Hummm.....only three
1) Great Point, Nantucket 2) Stage Harbour, Chatham MA 3) Chatham Light with two towers, Chatham MA (maybe before the one light was moved to Nauset.)
Hopefully someday, and thanks Harbour Lights for the Three Sisters! :p

Owl's Head will be out in 2005 and I'll bet ya Point Sur will be right around the corner also.
Kim thinks Point Bonita is too ugly. I had to disagree with her on that one as long as she puts the bridge on it. I wouldn't count on this one very soon.
These are my three favorites also.

How about a large Point Sur with the huge path up to the light or a large Point Bonita with the bridge? I was thinking about something around the size of the Navesink which is unique. I wouldn't want many of them that size but one big Christmas piece would be spectacular. Storage wouldn't be a problem as you would only have to display it once a year so that would make it pretty special. I wonder how many would be interested in a biggie once in a while. We certainly have our share of Little Lights. Of course it would have to be a LE. Just a thought. Judy

I would like to see HL make the last of the three Alabama lights "Mobile Point". Two down, and one to go! Then my Alabama collection would be complete. Well, that is only true if you don't count Alabama's lost lights. Which would be Choctaw Point Lighthouse, Battery Gladden Lighthouse and Grant's Pass Lighthouse. There is no visible evidence that these three existed anymore. What a shame! They were all on Mobile Bay. And I'll be you didn't even know that they ever existed. Again I say what a shame! Maybe one day HL will make a long lived line of "Lost Lights" and these will be included. Along with a long list of Mississippi and Louisiana lost lights too! 1. Mobile Point, AL 2. Ship Island, MS 3. Port Pontchartrain, LA This last one is a strange looking little light. Abandoned and unkempt, but still standing in New Orleans, LA. Port Pontchartrain

1. Potowatomie Light 2. St. Martin's Island 3. Crisp Point with keepers house There are so many that I can think of and would buy if they did produce them...it's hard to narrow it to three!

Congratulations on the big 4000, Bob! I recently hit 2000 - remember last fall when I thought I couldn't make Super Wacko?!
Cedar Point Crisp Point Matagorda
Too difficult to narrow it down. All of those listed so far are wonderful - is there a light that is not wonderful?

I'm where you were, Grace, wondering when I will ever reach Super Wacko status! I agree--there isn't a light that isn't wonderful. Judy

Only 3 is hard to do, so I'm listing 3 existing and 3 gone but not forgotten.
Existing: 1 - Point Bonita - CA 2 - Harbour of Refuge - DE 3 - Miah Maull Shoal - NJ Close 4th - Duluth South Breakwater Outer & North Breakwater (could be done as a set like the Panama set)
GBNF: 1 - Bergen Point Light - NJ 2 - Bug Light - Boston Harbor 3 - Minnesota Point Close 4th - Tuckers Island (original, not the existing replica)
------------------ Lighthouse Loon
Stan M New Jersey Lighthouse Lovers ------------------------------------ Harry Wishlist: Tinicum Rear Range, Miah Maull Shoal, Finns Point, Bergen Point, Cross Ledge, Old Ambrose Lightstation, Romer Shoal, Barnegat Lightship, Liberty Lightship.

The good news is that there are still a whole bunch that have never been produced by Harbour Lights. Keep them coming but maybe not so many at one time! Judy

Judy,
We definitely must be thinking alike. First of all, ABSOLUTELY NO REPEATS. Secondly, DON'T RELEASE SO MANY AT ONE TIME. Possibly a third -- keep the release total for each new piece at 4,000 or less?

Is there any way for a neophyte to find out what lights (any format) have been issued? I've gone to the website, but it is too confusing with all the different editions and sizes. If I knew what had been done I could see if my favorites were there.

Rosalie,
If you go to HL's website and click on Product Search, just put the State's 2-letter code in the designated block, determine if you want a listing of Harbour Lights, Anchor Bay, etc. and click on that detail and that will bring up all the pieces that have been produced for that state.
If you want me to send you via snail mail a copy of their product history, I can certainly do that. It has not been updated since June of 2004, but it lists everything they produced from 1991 through June of 2004. Send me your mailing address via email (one of those icons at the top of this reply) and I'll get it out to you tomorrow.

Thanks Sandy, but I don't want to put you to that amount of trouble for what is idle curiousity on my part. I feel kind of like I'm in this forum under false pretenses because I'm not a Harbour Lights collector (or any kind of model collector).

Not everyone participating in the Collector Forums is a Harbour Lights collector. We have many members who are lighthouse lovers. All are welcome.

Rosalie,
No bother on my part--I believe you'll find that if you ask anything here, you'll receive something in return. Try my initial suggestion. If it doesn't get you what you're asking for, feel free to contact me and I'll gladly mail you a copy of the Product History.
Sandy
P.S. I'm away from August 1st until August 21st and won't have a computer with me.

So looking at those lists I see that Maryland has Limited Cove Point (also LL) Craighill Rear ►Piney Point (also LL) * Turkey Point (also LL) Open Drum Point (also LL) Hooper Strait (also LL) Seven Foot Knoll (also LL) Thomas Point (also LL) and only Little Lights (and it would be easier if these were alphabetical) for Sharps Island Baltimore Concord Craighill Lower Sandy Point Fort Washington Point Lookout (but not the new paint job) I haven't seen Fort Washington or Concord because I haven't been that far north or Hooper Strait. The ones that I've seen that aren't in there are Hooper Island, Lazaretto (which is a replica), Fort Carroll, Solomon's Lump, Jane's (or James) Island, Cedar Point [remains], and Point No Point. I've also seen a model of Blackistone Light. It would seem to me to be more commercially viable to do lighthouses that are still there to be looked at, but of that group that hasn't been done AT ALL (so no duplicates), I'd like to see Fort Carroll, Cedar Point and either Point No Point or Blackistone.
