Hi John & Mary, ...Coquille River as a Glow is a wonderful idea, but this isn't the first time that idea has been mentioned. Bill Younger made a remark at the 1998 Reunion in Providence, Rhode Island about the possibility of producing a Coquille Glow. Needless to say, there were mixed emotions about it.
If my memory serves me correctly, there were 1,138 Coquille River limited editions made. I would take a rough guess and say maybe 800-900 people have one or possibly two and realize what they are worth. The other couple of hundred or so are probably in someone's curio, storage area, attic, or cellar. Let's be honest....it isn't the most attractive of the Harbour Lights line.
A direct quote from the "Ancient Mariner" stated, "If they made all 5,500 of them, some would still be on the dealer's shelves."
I personally like Glows. Yes, I would love to see a Coquille Glow available to all us collectors who cannot afford the LE of Coquille. (Now I'll stir the pot a little...) Glows are a great collectible despite the fact some people consider them only as giftware. They have a place of honor right next to my LE's in both my curios.
That's the word from the East Coast!
