I owe each and every one of you who ordered a Wacko 2001 Pin an apology. I’ve had the pins for about a month. I’ve had the envelopes ready and the historical perspective written by Barbara printed, ready to be inserted. I had the address labels printed. Everything was ready to go and has been for some time.

I am right handed. The weekend before the pins arrived I injured my right shoulder while sea kayaking. It seemed like no big deal but after a few days it got worse and I could hardly lift my right arm so I went to an orthopedist. He told me I had a rotator cuff tear. He sent me to physical therapy and put me on anti-inflammatory meds. I should have begun to regain the use of my right arm within about a week. I did my therapy regimen and my shoulder seemed to get better. I was almost to the point where I felt I could stuff envelopes, etc. albeit a few at a time, when I seriously and very painfully reinjured it. Surgery is not called for yet but my recovery time is now nine to twelve weeks, beginning last week. In the interim, my darling wife Kim injured her back in a kind of freaky accident. Between the two of us we might make one-half a person!

I kept telling myself I was going to be able to fulfill my commitment to the pin project just any day now, but it’s now obvious I will not be able to do so. I have delayed your receiving your pins because of my wishful thinking and for that I owe you each an apology. Another committee member, Darlene, has generously offered to step in and fulfill my obligation and I am in the process of sending her all the needed materials. Once again, I apologize for the delay.

Oh my goodness, you sure have been through alot. I thank you so much for your interest and dedication to the wacko pin project. I hope all goes well for both you and your wife. I'm only sorry I couldn't have helped you. And thanks to Darlene for the coming to your rescue. This goes to show that there really are some super people out there when you need them. Get well soon.

Lamar - So sorry to hear about your injury! Believe me I understand. I have been fighting shoulder problems for over ten years. I have had two surgeries and been in physical therapy multiple times. Presently I am back in physical therapy due to weakness. Luckily the pain has been better since the last surgery. So, hang in there and if you need moral support email me privately and I will help the best I can.

Lamar, I'd been wondering where you'd been lately. What a shame to hear of your troubles, also your wife's. We knew you didn't run off with the pin money as you probably couldn't have gotten too far from at least one of us!

Take care of that shoulder. One set-back is more than enough.

Hey, it's just a pin. We've all had those injuries that are supposed to heal in a week or two and turn in to a month or two. Heck, I've got a bad knee from playing Hockey in my High School years that still isn't completly right, and this years my 20th reunion.

Take care of the arm and back you two, the pins can wait!

No problem here at all Lamar. You and Kim devote your time recovering and don't worry about the pins. I agree with Dale in that, physical therapy was a real eye opener. My first trip after busting up my knee was with a petite, blonde therapist who had hands the size of a gorilla. If I were to venture as to her nickname, I would guess "Knuckles." Get well soon!

So sorry to hear about your accident and that you wife is also suffering from a back injury. I hope that you're both recovering and will be good as new soon. Nothing worse than pushing yourself too fast and then relapsing, so take it easy.
