As you know, Morris Island was chosen for recognition this year by the majority of those who voted in our recent poll. The Save the Light organization has made great progress in trying to keep this tall tower from being lost forever. The image being used on the badge is in recognition of this effort, and is actually a visual statement of the work being done. It is my hope that we can provide $1000 to them to help with their work.

As suggested by several and supported by so many, the cost of this year's badge will be $10 delivered. There are no lanyards available, but I have recently seen lanyards offered in dollar stores, sporting goods stores and teacher's supply stores.

This year the project will terminate well before the end of the year, probably some time in August. So, don't put off ordering.


You do not have to be a Wacko to purchase a badge. You don't even have to be a member - we have sold many to family and friends over the years. As far as I'm concerned, as long as your check clears I'm happy... I just want your money to give to Save the Light...... The overriding goal is to have some fun, have something that will bring us together and to support a lighthouse preservation effort.

I will accumulate orders for the first week or so before I produce the first batch.

The image is a bit different than on the other Wacko badges but I like it.

It's nice to see the work in progress. I hope to see it up close and personal from Folly Beach next month.

I got the image from the Save The Light group for Dave to use on the badge.. It is a very current image that they sent me as the restoration is going on at this very moment.. It is a very recent image, no more than a month old.. The photographer is doing regular photo shoots for their website to show how the work is being done. This was the most up-to-date image available..

The group is very excited to be chosen for the Wacko Badge and is very appreciative of the funds that will be raised on their behalf..

While I was at the St Augustine Friday and Saturday event I had many people call me by name and I had no idea who they were. I was feeling very popular and important for a while until I realized that they where getting my name from my Wacko Badge.

I think Daniel, my son and myself were the only ones there with the badges. I like it and want to thank Dave for getting them to us in time for the event.

Human error is the most common explanation- you know the old saying "Garbage in, Garbage out."

We all get to used to spellcheck on our e-mails and don't always check our other posts as carefully. i know I do it way too often myself.

I keep telling myself I should compose my posts in my e-mail program and spell check them and then do a cut and paste but it's just too much trouble to remember that.

Heck I can't even remember to take my reusable grocery bags with me and if I do I end up leaving them in the car.

Eric, we have passed the $600 mark thanks to orders and also to the extra generosity of several people. I will leave the order line open for a while, as there isn't a real hurry at this point. I definitely want to at least match last year's $750 and I would really like to see us reach the $1000 mark. That was one of the major reasons for upping the price,
