USA Today articleDon't know if I agree with their 10 best statement, but they do list some great lights to visit. We all probably have our own thoughts on what the 10 most scenic are!

It appears to me that they went after the most popular in most cases rather than the most scenic.

I certainly agree that the lighthouses mentioned are very scenic, but there are more that could be included. How about a list of the 25 most scenic? I have always thought the view of Split Rock from the road turnout as you approach the light is magnificent. I could go on, but you get my idea. There are more than 10 most scenic... Thoughts, anyone?

Doc, I think a case could be made for many lights around the country. Some because of the surrounding environment and their sheer beauty. Some because the buildings themselves are beautiful. It is a top 10 list that probably is doomed from the start. I shared it because I was pleased that USA Today actually had a piece about lighthouses.

They are all tall towers. And all but one are tall ROUND towers. Totally samey samey for architecture. And I don't think any of them are out in the water are they?

Susan B. Barnes obviously has never been to Split Rock Lighthouse just to name one.. I think of the ten lighthouses that she mentioned only Heceta Head Light would be in my top ten most scenic..
Onward to The Land of the Midnight Sun!

She definitely hasn't seen many lighthouses. How anyone could exclude Split Rock if they have seen it is beyond me. Same is true Point Bonita and Point Reyes.

I think we could all add some lights that are beautiful and/or are in beautiful locations. So many are special for where they are and how they fit in the environment where they are.
Have to appreciate that maybe someone not familiar with lighthouses saw the piece, decided that a lighthouse was worth the visit and became an addict.
