Anyone else finding problems with getting the A1 put available in a recent LD/HL email sale (5-26)? I was awarded my request but they are all A2's. Only 4 in the email were specified as A2's, the other 38 were A1's. Is the difference nominal?

Yup.....

I also was awarded a request, however instead of a "A1", HL indicated it was available as a "A4" even though it was advertised as only be available as a "A1".

Something is screwy with this latest offering....

I WANT the "A1" HL421 Thomas Point Shoal, MD !!!!!

You should get what you paid for.
Bill Younger set aside the first ten for him and his family.

The number one being his and the other numbers set aside for his family members.

Since it still is not very hard to get one of the higher numbered founders and the number one being of Bills personal collection I would definitely put more value on the A1.

Most collectors would love to have a number one.

The way I read the email was there were 38 GLOWS that DID HAVE an "A1" at a minimum and could have had an "A2" up to an "A10". The remaining 4 GLOWS DID NOT HAVE an "A1" and could have had an "A2" up to an "A10".

Also, collectors ordering 5 piece or more had priority so if you ordered just one piece and 4 others wanted that piece, it was sold on the basis of when the request was received.

I did not read it that way. My email said 38 A1s and 4 A2s. I chose one of the A1s. Also they admitted they messed it up when I paused my purchase decision.

Here is the quote from the email.

The deciding factor in who would have 1st pick of the A1 GLOWS and the A2-A10's was how many pieces you ordered of at least 5 pieces or more. I believe someone who ordered 10 got first pick and someone who ordered 8 got second pick, and so on. In a tie for number of pieces ordered of 5 or above, then they would pick who got their email request in first.

I believe Christopher and my point was that email clearly says there are 38 A1's and I requested one. If someone else got it then good for them but do not tell me I got my request fulfilled and then sell me an A2 which is what happened. Nowhere in that email does it say second place gets an A2.

I can understand why you are upset. Did they actually ship to you the A2 piece or just inform you that your piece was going to be A2?

I know in my email to them I actually included a statement that said if I couldn't get any of the A1s that I requested that I did not want anything. I sure am glad I inserted that statement.

Does anyone care to share what pieces they got that were A1s?

I turned the offer down. I was just kind of bugged that I was told I got the piece I wanted and they added in it was an A2. I had to go back and read the original offer. I think they should have said I did not get it and here was another option.

Obviously no one cares to share what they were fortunate enough to get from the GLOW Founder's Collection.

I originally asked for 5 pieces (I stated only A1s) in my request. I was lucky enought to get 2 of my requested pieces (St. Augustine and Ponce De Leon) and a week later after everyone had been notified I called again and asked if any A1s were left. There was 1 piece that was overlooked and wasn't put on the list so I was glad I asked and bought Pemaquid. While I was at it I took Daniel's advise and also bought the 10 Pounder Cannon.

Any one else want to fess up with what they got?

Mark - I didn't either. In fact I made the comment to Bill Younger at a signing in St. Augustine that I compared the GLOWS to Beanie Babies. He never let me live that remark down. I still would not be participating if they weren't A1s.
