Hi All! As a newbie I'm not really sure where I should post, but anyway I thought I would share an experience I had in 1954 or 5. There was a Sea Explorer base near Cabrillo Beach which we were members of. One day we kids being about 14 or 15 years old, decided to walk the breakwater out to the lighthouse which I just discovered was nearly 2 miles long. The first part of the walk was easy and smooth but as we walked on the rocks, they became more widely spaced and harder to walk on.Sort of exploring and fooling around as we went, we came upon a Platypus! The poor animal was trapped with no where to go we were blown away I had never even heard of one,I thought I was seeing things, half cat,and half duck,we thought and those sad eyes I'll never forget them. As I recall the day was nice and sunny but by the time we got to the lighthouse the weather had changed and how! also the tide had come in. How we were not washed off those rocks reminds me that there are Angels!

I will admit, I was skeptical, but it has been documented. Platypus are sometimes found in Southern California....
