We have a thread running about what flag# or #'s you received, but I thought I would start another thread about your thoughts on the piece itself.

Here are a few of my thoughts on my initial observation of the ELL in hand:

-The size is just right.

-The detail is some of the best work I've seen from Harbour Lights.

-The removeable flag pole is the best they've done so far because it gives you the option of displaying it or leaving it in the box. I'm not a big supporter of flags on HL's because it is very difficult to produce a flag that matches the quality of the piece. I believe the pole is metal and I will be the first to admit it looks good.

-Have we had mini lightning rods molded into the ventilator ball before? I notice the ever so tiny rod sticking out of the ball on this piece. A nice touch for a special piece.

-It sure is nice the see that label on the felt that reads "Collector Forums Exclusive"!

-The detail and coloring of the bricks of the tower is more than just impressive.

How about some of your thoughts as this wonderful piece comes into your home.

smile Bob smile

(A very big) P.S. Thanks Dave and John for making this project succeed!

Great idea Bob. I'll add mine.

Totally agree with the size as being just right.

The detail is very impressive.

-The removeable flag pole is the best idea they've come up with as it gives one the option of using it or not. Personnaly I am using the flag pole, but I like the idea that I can bring it in on a rainy day. laugh

I had not noticed frown the mini lightning rod on the ventilator ball until you mentioned it. That is a very nice touch smile and I hope that HL continues that in future LE's.

All in all I beleive that this is one fine addition to anyone's collection and hope that The CF can do it again and again.

I think you both covered it all;
size..perfect
detail..excellent
flag.. which I think is great plus the way it was done. Agree with Bert and Sharon about bringing it in in the rain. wink
lightning rod..nice touch
CF Exclusive label..kinda makes you proud!
coloring..great
fine addition to anyone's collection..without a doubt!
a very big thanks to Dave and John..definately agree with that but we have to tone it down some --we don't want anyone getting swelled heads. laugh

All told I'd have to say a 10 out of 10.Well done!!
smile cool

A few items of note

1.The felt does not appear to be the rubberized material rather more like a heavy pool table felt.

2. C.O.A. signed "B.C. Younger"

3. Label now reads "Exclusively for Harbour Lights" I see no reference to Lighthouse Marketing

A "WOW" in my book. Great piece

Very nice all around. Great size, excellent detail, better than usual flag with cool pole, nice extra on the lightning rod, terrific fence. Love the label! Thanks, again, to all who made this wonderful piece possible!

I love it! Yes, it was well worth the wait. The size is just right-it fit well in my curio cabinet in between several of the larger LEs. I didn't notice the lightning rod either, but then again my grandsons were trying to check it at the same time... so it was a quick once over before hitting the cabinet. They liked the excavating! My oldest grandson(5yrs) found the seahorse right off the bat!!! He really has a knack for that. I am SO glad I purchased one. Thanks to all who made this piece possible!!!! smile

Excellent all around, this is one for the book by a company that takes care of it's collector's. With the standard so high it will be difficult to top.

When I found out that the ELL would have a removable flag, I ordered two pieces. I've got both sitting side-by-side -- one with the flag and one without. To be honest, I like the one with the flag better. But both are great.

Removable flags should be a priority from now on.

A lot of work went into the planning and making of the ELL. John C. & Dave H. shouldered most of the burden. It would be up to them, with the blessing of Harbour Lights, if there will be another Collector Forum Exclusive someday.

I would love to see it happen, but it will only happen if the Work Team receives the necessary support from the CF Membership and other collectors throughout the world.

Many of us feel it's a wonderful idea but the ELL didn't sell out immediately which may slow the process of another CF Exclusive becoming a reality. There are still a few ELL's to sell and when they are gone, then the whole project will be evaluated.

The piece is a true work of art. When you see it in person, you realize what a wonderful HL it is and for such a reasonable price.

I echo Bob's thoughts exactly. The thing that could stop a repeat is the fact that we did not have an immediate sellout and have a few left. The response of the dedicated forum members was great. The individual club members helped our sales and even non-forum member was good but we still have some to sell before we can declare a "retired piece".

We need the active forum members to help recruit new buyers or to buy some "extra" pieces as Christmas, birthday, graduation, etc. gifts so we cxan have a sellout. What better way to start a new wacko on lighthouse collecting then to give them a special piece from you that is a limited edition of 500?

Did you send out the release to everyone who attended the Michigan Reunion last year (Baltimore, Rhode Island, San Diego too) who might not be a WACKO? If you have, NeverminD but sometimes the obvious needs to be asked.

Dave did send email to the Reunion attendees from 2005.

Finding 1997, 1998, 2001 lists and how valid they might be would be difficult.
