Hi Sandy,
I can't remember the website (not at home right now), but the Lighthouse is Erie Land (Pennsylvania). It will be about 6" tall, limited to 500 pieces, random drawing for low numbers. Picture of model, around November, Ship around March, cost $50.00 ($25.00 deposit mid September, $25.00 later (can't remember). I believe the limit will be 2 per person.

Boy, either no one made the chat or there's a lot of disapointment. Come on folks, let's hear what you have to say!

16 people were in the chat room. I think many were or were ready to hit the road.

I didn't make the chat because I retire early, usually around 2100 hours. Recalling past chats, 16 people in attendance would be a nice crowd.

The main pitch for this special HL will be at the reunion. People in attendance will be in a collecting frenzy so I would expect a lot of orders for this very limited edition.

Only 500 are to be manufactured. I believe the purchase of this piece is limited to two per person. I further believe this piece will sell out leaving many people hunting for a collector who wants to sell one of their two. It will also leave some people thinking, "Why didn't I order one sooner?"

There are the quick and the bitten. My advice is to be "quick" on this one. It wouldn't surprise me if over half the amount being made will be ordered at the reunion. That will only allow the other 250 or so to be ordered through your CF membership. Do the math. If only 125 people of the 1600 CF registered membership buy two each, 1475 people will not be able to order one even if they wanted to.

P.S. I will be ordering two.

cool Bob cool

They won't be taking orders at the Reunion Bob, I think just announcing and pushing it. Sign-up won't begin until mid September.

I, being the kinda guy I am, will only take one, as there's only one of me laugh (and only so much room here). I'm not looking to think that these will be like the "gold's" on E-Bay and hording an extra. Buuuut, since I planned on being there last night but obviously wasn't shocked , when will the e-mail with all the details be hitting our in boxes? I've got the gist, but not the fine details. wink

Steve, I believe that the link above posted by Jared (pierhead) gives the most details that are available at this point. One further note: HL will be working on this piece from a new set of photographs. Rod's photo in the link shows the former lantern room and the lantern room was replaced a couple years ago to more accurately represent the original one.

Based on all our conversations for ordering, there will not be any orders taken at the Reunion. The piece will be pitched at the Reunion but all ordering will be done through the Forum and Forum Members will be given first chance to purchase up to 2 pieces. That is why it is so important to sign up and join the Forums by September 1st at midnight. There is no hurry to order your pieces as the numbers will be drawn, so 1st ordered will NOT mean the lowest number, and in fact 1st ordered may mean the highest number if the luck of the draw is not with you. Only after ALL FORUM MEMBERS have had a reasonable chance to order up to 2 pieces will it be tuned over to clubs, lighthouse groups, etc. There may even be a chance for registered Forum members to order more then 2 pieces after the initial ordering period for registerered Forum members. All we are saying is don't hesitate to place your first order as the 500 may sell out faster then we anticipated. The initial ordering period should start sometime in mid-September, or when Dave gets caught up with all his Reunion activities.

Okay, as long as it's mid-Sept. and not the last where I'll be treking northward, it's okay. Do we just check back daily (at least as the middle of the month approaches) or will we be e-mailed? Somewhere we were supposed to check that we could receive e-mails so I want a dang e-mail!! :p

Sorry, BHAD (buyer's hyper-activity disorder) shocked

Really excited as well. Looking forward to one (only so much room). I did not receive an e-mail announcement that I believe was said to happen? Just wondering? Does that mean that I'm not going to have a chance to order? Thanks

So what do we do from this side of the big pond. You won't like our Checks or Money Orders - the fees will cripple you (and us for that matter)

And after their attempt to "adopt" nearly $1800 from our credit card, we won't be dealing with BidPay/Western Union ...

Does that mean we can't order, or is there a chance we could use PayPal?

Speaking for the committee, "Where there's a will there's a way". Dave will figure out a method for you once we start to order. His hands are full right now with the Reunion.

There is no doubt in my mind that everyone who wants one of the special CF releases will be able to purchase one right up to the 500 being made. It will be one of those "quick and the bitten" things. Place your order as early as possible and you should be able to have it filled. Being across the pond shouldn't hamper your efforts but it will increase your shipping charge.

Yes, I am sure your shipping charges will increase quite a bit to receive this piece. The cost of the piece at $50.00 includes shipping charges in the U.S. Shipping charges to England, Germany, etc. will be a different story I'm sure. Having bought the Large British Isles Collection last November for $340.00 of which $150.00 was for parcel post charges, I'm sure that the shipping will be at least equal to the $25.00 deposit. Without the weight of the piece, box size and ZIP Code(town code) it's hard to determine. Don't get discouraged at the shipping cost because the piece will be well worth it, but, please plan on additional shipping charges.

If it is really shipped in March, we could be in luck. We are coming to visit with Stan's daughter in California in March. That would be great... shipped to El Cajon, CA and no extra shipping over the pond.
The only trouble will be the payment!

For those 'hooked' on PayPal, we're looking at a $1.50 add on fee for the convenience - that's what we'd have to pay to receive US $50. Would that be acceptable?

John - A problem that will be coming up is when/if we get orders from overseas what will be added for shipping charges. I'm sure it will be actual charges since the $50.00 price includes U.S. shipping but overseas shipping is much higher.

At first thought, I would think that PayPal, and hence the $1.50 would be an unnecessary expense, but the way my funds fluctuate month to month, week to week ,day to... okay, you get the picture; no problem with me paying $1.50 should that be my best option of going through PayPal. Heck, at least then we know you have payment and it's not lost in Siberia somewhere...and you paid them .37 for that service!! laugh

I checked the USPS.com site and couldn't figure it out too well, but it looks like it could be 2# for $12-$15 to England. Since we're planning to pay for US shipping which I think will be $7.50, we could charge the difference to our friends in the UK. But don't quote me on this until the team agrees and we double-check Global Priority rates.

Like the U.S. there is the slow boat to china option(ground/sea,ground), parcel post(ground/air,ground),air parcel(air) and overnight. Like you said we need to discuss with the committee. We may also get an order from Germany(bernd). Subtracting our U.S. Cost from the actual shipping costs sounds fair. We will need the town code(zip code) to get actual shipping costs.

I'm sure this piece will be very well done. Harbour Lights has really mastered their craft with all the intricate detailing they have added throughout the years.

There will only be 500 Erie Land Lights. Although many people may not have heard of this light until now, there will be many more people who will recognize the name and the special HL once it is released.

Don't miss out on this very special piece!

When we're ready to take orders, you'll see a post first in THIS forum. I'm closing this thread now because it is way off topic.

Please be patient for about another week. (ABOUT)
