A couple of filter questions-
Of the lenses I own, no two accept the same filter size. Does it make more sense to use square slide-in filters like Cokins that will fit them all? Up until now I have been using screw on filters, but if you have a bunch of lenese this must get prohibitively expensive...
What do you folks use? I imagine if you want a graded density filter it would have to be square so you can slide it up and down to where you want it. I asked this question in a photo group, which seems to dislike Cokins for being easily scratched. Doesn't seem like a good trait for use on the beach!

I usually buy the UV and polarizer when I buy a lens, to this point that's all I've used. Some day I'll probably try the ND, but I'll have to do some checking as to what is the best system for my circumstsnces. Not much help, I'm afraid! Bud

You can but step up step down adapter rings. Buy the Filters for your largest Lens, and then use a step down adapter for the others. Then you need only purchase one set of filters. All of mine are 55mm. Richard

When I was photographing with Bill Taylor in San Francisco, he suggested using an 81A or 81B warming filter, because sometimes a polarizer makes the sky too blue.

In some ways, you're lucky to be at a size like 55 mm.... most of my lenses are 72 or 77 mm and when you start buying some of them like a circular polarizer at that size, they get kind of expensive!
