Sorry I haven't been posted much lately. This summer has been so crazy! I had a chance to go down to Grand Haven tonight after an incoming cold front with severe storms. What a magical evening!!
As the storms were approaching...
Passing through...
Then, chicken as I am, I started back to the car as the rain and lightning came in. I decided to run to the store and return for sunset. I returned about an hour later, grabbed my gear, and headed back out for the beach. As I looked south at the storms that had already passed, this sight greeted my eyes.
From when I first saw the rainbow, it lasted all of about two minutes, and it was gone. I managed to snap off five or six shots.
As the sun hits the horizon...
The sky lights up for one last show.
This was done at ISO 100, 13 seconds at F16.
And, as I would be blessed, not only did I get an outgoing freighter (sorry I did not get the name) at sunset...
At ISO 3200, with my 28mm prime lens, F2.8 at 1/60 second, tripod.
I got another freighter coming in!! ISO 3200, 1/10 second at F2.8 about an hour after sunset. This is the 620', self unloading Maritimer class Richard Reiss coming into the Grand Haven pier about an hour after sunset. I would not have been able to capture these images of the freighter had I been shooting color film.
Here is a link to more information on the
Richard Reiss .
Enjoy!
