This one was taken late afternoon/early evening while photographing with Bill Taylor. It was foggy, but it's quite amazing what you can get even in such weather conditions.



I've got 3 others scanned so far of these photos but need to resize, create border, save as jpg, etc. yet!

Terry, great picture. You seem to go to a lot of trouble to get your pictures ready, scanner, resize, border, etc. But I can tell you it does make a difference to those of us who see them and I for one appreciate them a lot.

Thanks, Bert! I've learned from some of the best! My scanner, a Minolta Dimage Scanspeed, was Gary's and he sold it to me at a great price when he upgraded to his present one. Before I went home in Dec. from MI, he had gone over a number of points on the scanner so that when he shipped it to me, I would understand better what I needed to do. Bill Taylor, I found out while in CA, has the same scanner, so I have picked up a few pointers from him. Re the borders, I didn't know how to do the 2-toned border, but when Bill and I were online on AIM last week, he gave me a lesson on how to do them with Paint Shop Pro, which he says is easier to use for the borders. (Gary didn't realize I didn't know how to do more than 1 color or he would have shown me how.) Using the eye dropper, a color that is in the photo can be picked up and used in the border. They're both very good teachers, great photographers, great friends and a whole lot of fun to photograph with.

These were all taken with my Canon Rebel G 2000, Fuji Provia 100F film, and my brand new Canon Ultrasonic 17-35mm lens -- which I will be probably paying for during the next year, but I feel it was worth it. This is all I have scanned of these at this point. More at some future time!

Nice shots of Montara, Terry. The cloudy grey sky adds something to this shot that I don't think you would have had on a clear day. It's worth nothing that on a clearer day you can see the Marin Headlands up in Golden Gate National Recreation Area in the distance! I think I have a scanned image shot on a day like that. I'll see if I can locate it, get it uploaded and posted here for comparison.

OK, finding those shots of Montara was as hard as it might have been.

This first shot was taken in 1999, probably in about April looking north toward the Marin Headlands, which you can see on the horizon in the right half of the photo.



The second image was shot in April when I was at Montara with Chuck. I don't know if he got any of the picket fence, but I had a blast photographing the picket fence. Since I've been doing the pano gallery for my website the past couple evenings

Thanks, Gary! Especially like your shot up at the picket fence. I'll probably scan some from the morning of 6/8 when we had some much better light, but I'm not displeased with what I got under foggy conditions.

Here is a night shot of Pt. Montara that was taken a couple of years ago. I find this LH more difficult to shoot, but like all Lighthouses, a fun place to visit.

One of these years I'm going to get to Montara when the light is good. Ahhh the advantage of living relatively close - Sacramento is when you compared to my commute out to the Bay Area anyway...!

How's this one, Gary? I called it Point Montara at Twilight and posted it to the new "Stream" on www.photoblink.com. It's currently Photo of the Day, in the Top Ten, #2 out of about 100 posted so far and last I checked about 8.629, .19 away from the #1 photo of this newest stream!



Needless to say, I'm pretty pleased with myself!!!!

Thanks, Bud and Gary. It's currently off the POTD spot but did attain the #1 for a few hours so, Gary, as you know very well from all the ones you had up there, it will always have that on it. Who knows - it might get back up there again, but I won't count on it so I won't be disappointed!! TTYL!!

Here's a shot of Montara from 1997 when Suzie and I did a trip from SF up to Astoria.

Well, not to rub it in (NOT MUCH), but how often do I get to say that Gary admitted to both Bill Taylor and me that I got a better Point Montara photo than he did! LOL!! And in this instance, I got two (the Point Montara at Twilight photos)!! When you come to think of it, though, it's partly thanks to the great teaching from both Gary and Bill that I did get these!! So thanks, guys for sharing your expertise!!

Terry, maybe we will get to do this again someday. You have a shot you can be proud of.
