For those aficionados of Gary Martin's photography, the History Channel contacted him some months regarding using some of his storm wave sequences for a program. They've been advertising the program with his sequences all week and tomorrow night, Friday, November 25th, at 11 p.m., it will be shown. They've also been advertising a dvd of it for sale!

Enjoy if you tune in!

You're very welcome. You won't regret tuning into it. Gary is a top of the line photographer, especially with lighthouses and more so with storm wave animation sequences.

The program which is scheduled at that time is "Reconstructing the Brant Point Lighthouse". I've got my DVR on. I hope it's the one you're referring to, Terry. Should be good either way.

I'm on-line with Gary now on AIM and he just verified that the title you mentioned is the title of the program. His animation storm wave sequences were used in the beginning of the program and in about the middle of it when they were making the point of showing the kind of storms that lighthouses had to withstand.

I thought as much; I watched for those. The program itself was a good one with vignettes of various lighthouses and Dick Moehl making statements at various intervals. The replication of Brant Point was pretty fascinating. I'm sure the History Ch. will repeat the program, so, hopefully, more of the CF members will be able to catch it. I think lots of folks were tied up with family activities this time around. Thanks again for letting us know about this; I'm glad I didn't miss it.

Glad it is being repeated, meant to watch it last night but was very tired (had to work) and forgot and went to bed.

You'll enjoy it, Eric. That's something to wish for Christmas - that someone will replicate a lighthouse for me!

Thanks for the repeat info Barry. I would have watched the first time but was out carousing with my kids!

I TIVO'd it and watched it last night. I enjoyed it. Got to see some of Gary's images flash by as part of a series showing the kinds of poundings lighthouses had to be designed to take.

Seemed kind of odd that a New England lighthouse would be used for a Great Lakes family. Why not choose a nice smaller GL light?

I didn't hear them say what scale the Brant Point replica was made to.

John - I think it was full size. The real Brant Point isn't very big.

Also, did anyone else note the mistakes they made in identifying the people on the show? They had Wayne Wheeler as a Researcher for the Great Lakes Lighthouse Society and Tom Tag as President of the United States Lighthouse Society. It should be the other way around.

The show was interesting though.

Replica was to be 2/3 size. Several within the GLLKA community have also asked why a Great Lakes light was not modeled. Would have been somewhat more logical.

I also thought it was odd that they didn't use a Great Lakes Light.

Was the Murphy's lighthouses the place that some people on our bus were talking about during the Lake Erie lighthouse trip? Was he the one that made the models? I think they were trying to arrange a tour for us.

I believe that is the place, Suzanne. Seems to me he cancelled because of a family commitment.
