Ok Jen, you asked for it..... Here goes.
I left home and drove to St. Ignace and stayed there the first two nights. Did a lot of sightseeing while there, including drives to Whitefish point and Thaquamenon falls. Also had a nice bag lunch on the lawn at the Mackinac point light watching the ships go by and the sun go down.
From St. Ignace we drove to Big Bay where we stayed a night at teh Big Bay point lighthouse B&B. I highly recommend this, it's a beautiful lighthouse and they've done a wonderful job with it. Unfortunately I didn't get many photos as we had rain and fog the whole time we were there. Also visited some sites of interest from the movie "Anatomy of a Murder", which I love.
Anyway, after Big Bay we drove to Sault Ste. Marie for a night. On the way I stopped at the Marquette light, Munising range lights, and End of the Road range lights. At Sault went through the museum ship valley camp, which was excellent, and watched the locks for quite a while.
After a night at Sault we drove to Mac city for our Shepler's lighthouse cruise, but it was cancelled. That was the big let down of the trip. While we were there I decided that I wanted to find what was left of McGulpin's point light. I found it, got two pictures without tresspassing, and then made the beautiful drive from Mac City to Traverse city, where we stayed.
The next morning we took the ferry to South Manitou, which was incredibly cool. Got some good pics of North Manitou shoal light on the way there and back. So we stayed there over night, and cought the ferry back the next afternoon.
Went back to Traverse and spent the night there again, then woke up the next morning and drove home. It was right around 1,700 miles on the car in 7 days.
Wow, you think you're tired reading it, think how tired I was driving it!!!!
But it was a wonderful trip, and I'd do it again in a second. All together I visited 12 lights during the week. I shot 7 rolls of slides and 4-5 rolls of prints. I finally got them all scanned and I'll be posting more periodically.
