A couple of weeks ago while Terry Forrest was still here in SW Michigan visiting, we ended up at Big Sable to photograph late one afternoon. Climbing the tower at Big Sable is always fun but with my photobackpack for added ballast (I don't need any more, thank you!) it made the climb a little more of a challenge. Well, after lugging all of my photo gear up there, I had to use it! Here's one shot of the long shadow cast in the late afternoon by the tall tower of Big Sable lighthouse. This shot was taken using a 14 mm f2.8 ultrawide angle lens. On the way out, I spied a little pool from the recent rains that would be a good reflection shot a little later in the afternoon after the light had warmed. So, on the way back... I just had to shoot it! There are two of the shots from the several rolls of film I exposed. I'll get some more posted after I get them scanned. Gary

That bottom picture sure is peaceful. A rather unique composition of this light with the reflection. Good job here. JB

Nice country out there. Great use of the shadow. Once again, great pics, Gary! Bob

Here's 1 of my shadow shots from the top of Big Sable Point: Before I took this one, I took one of Gary. I was "playing" with it a little with Curves in Photoshop and created a rainbow effect over Gary's head. I liked it so kept it in. Then there's this one taken from the ground, looking up through the trees: Have lots more, but not scanned so far.

I haven't visited this light yet, either. I'm working my way up the west shore of Michigan, and so far I'm up to White River. (not counting the sleeping bear area where I vacation.) These are great shots, makes me want to get an ultra wide lens. I think my wife's going to have Gary wacked for making me want all this expensive glass.

It is expensive glass, too. I'm still paying for the rest of my 17-35mm Canon Ultrasonic lens that I bought in May. The polarizer for it alone was $100, but I'm not one bit sorry I got it!
