Last week Gary announced a gale warning for Lake Michigan, and wow was the weather man right. I was able to get out on Friday and shot 5 rolls between St. Joe and Grand Haven. While the waves weren't as ominous (8-10 footers with 20-23mph wind) as they were on Saturday, when Gary got out and cought some beautiful ones, I got some decent shots. Here's one I took on the pier at GH handheld with my 70-300, probably at 200mm or so. I got a bit wet, but it was definitely worth it. I'll post more from this trip in the next day or two.

Mike, getting wave shots like this with evening color in the sky is not a simple challenge. Excellent shot. I for one am looking forward to seeing more from your outing when you get the time to scan and post them!

Thanks Gary. I still feel like a rank amateur, but I'm having fun and by looking at my photos I see that my style is definitely evolving, with much of the thanks going to you and everyone who has shared their great work on this board and SC. Here is another from that shoot, a bit farther back. I did bump up the saturation on these a bit, but they're pretty much exactly what I saw through my viewfinder. I hope you all enjoy them.

Yep, that's how my people take care of business here in the cornfield ghetto. If thou dost disrespect my livestock, I shall verily bust a cap in thine heinnie. As for the budget CSI, I'm the Gil Grissom you call when you aint in Las Vegas and on TV.

Great shots, Mike. Love to see those pictures of the big waves hitting the Jetty. Don't have too many places like that around here in New England. At least I haven't found too many. Bert

Both great shots, Mike, but I especially like the 2nd one. I'll have to go to SC to see if you posted them there!

Hey Mike, with that water whipping over the top, that second shot is great. Only nit is the horizon tilts slightly, but that certainly does not steal the high energy from the shot. Well done. JB
