Hey Guys, here are a couple shots from tonight's (12/9) sunset over Lake Michigan. I will have to scan in some more tomorrow, but thought you might enjoy these. It's been a while since I have been out here and actually seen the sun set. The best place to view it currently over the light is on the Ferrysburg side. I was on the Grand Haven side as the winds were hitting that side of the pier. Hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
JB

A very nice set of pictures. The first is definitely my favorite, I like having the gulls in there.

Good shots all, John. The 2nd has the potential to be a very strong image if you take a shot like that with about a 2 stop grad ND filter to allow you to balance the exposure in the sky to that of the walkway and railing in the foreground.

The evidence of God's mighty paintbrush is in these images.... God did a great job on this sunset and you captured it for all of us to see.
Nice!

I understood what Gary said, it's not greek, it's green!! A good grad ND will cost you some serious duckets. I have been looking at Singh-Ray filters (at the direction of Gary), and boy do I want a couple. Maybe after Christmas I'll scrape up some funds and pick one up.

If anyone wants to be secret santa to a lowly public servant / photographer, a good ND grad will do the trick.

Great pictures! It's hard to pick a favorite. With the lighthouse it has to be number 1. FOr the sunset number 3. Thanks for sharing.

I've currently got about 5 Singh-Ray grad ND filters of one type, strength or another and they're great. There's a thread on here that talks about what they are and how to use them if anyone wants to find out more about them. They let you record images that are otherwise beyond the latitude of film but, unfortunately, the downside is the price. They're definitely not a cheap accessory.
