A couple weeks ago when we still had decent ice in our area, I made a trip to Grand Haven and got some decent shots. The first was taken before dark and shows the 'bulldozer' front of the outer light, used to deflect incoming waves. I really liked the look of the ice at the base.

This was taken after dark, obviously, and I was pretty pleased with it. The big problem was that there is some slight ghosting of the green lights in the water. I'm not sure how it happened, but if anyone can let me know how to take care of it, I'm all ears.

Hope you like them, I'll be posting more soon.

Very nice photos Mike. However, you can keep all the "decent ice". We've had enough ice and snow here! wink

When I say decent, I mean for photography. In just about every other imaginable situation I hate the stuff too. mad

But I think that's something I won't have to worry about for a few more months now. laugh

Personally, I like the green lights. I think they look cool in the picture.

Good stuff, Mike, thanks for sharing the icy photos!

Hopefully we'll have a decent spring storm season and some big waves to go with them too!

I like the reflections of the green lights too, but if you look closely you'll see that there are mirror images of the lights about halfway down in the reflection on the river. I highlighted them in this copy of the pic.

I see...hmmm...It'd be tough to just get the dots out. To tell the truth, I didnt even notice them. However, in a program like photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, you may be able to just get some water or light color with the eyedropper tool, and use a fine paintbrush to touch up the dots. Just make sure you keep a copy of the original on your Hard Drive, too!
Hope this helps! laugh
