We've set up an online order form for the 2002 Wacko Badge and Lanyards.

It's no longer necessary to post that you will be placing an order. Dave was looking for feedback so he could determine whether to order 75 or 150 lanyards.

Here's the order form

OK folks, time to get this thread back into action. All badge orders received up thru today have been shipped IF I have received your payment. If you ordered a badge and have not received it, did you send a check?

I have now made 128 badges - way behind where I thought we would be. These name badges are useful for not only store and regional events, but also lighthousing adventures. Some of the Connected Collectors at the recent FLA outing didn't hook up with each other because they didn't have their badges with them. A couple years ago, Digger stood in line behind Jakers at a signing - at that time they had not met, and didn't then because neither knew the other was also a Connected Collector.

Don't forget that this project will create a much needed contribution to the Block Island Southeast Light in the name of the HL Wackos. Have you ordered your badge yet???

I agree with Dave. I did not have my 'connected collector' badge at the Reunion, and even though I had my Harbour Lights name tag - the badge would have been very helpful. Besides Dave won't talk to you if you don't have one. OPPPs...sorry, we're trying to promote these. lol
Also when you're talking with lots of people it's easy to forget names, so the badge makes it easier to reconnect names and faces you've already met w/o the embarassment.

Dave,
We were going to pick up our badges at Rosemont. Do you have our order and check?

Bob,

Some might say a break from Dave talking would be welcomed- I wouldn't say that, but some might.

Bob - I have to have some standards to live by. No tag, no talk. Gee, how was I to recognize you????? tic, of course.

Tom - got ya covered. You should have received an email some time ago when I let everyone know I had received their $$. Sorry if you didn't.

Dennis - Now that was what I would expect from LI Bob. We'll see how your badge next year turns out. (Bob, can I get a copy of your prom pic - I have an idea.......)

Amanda,

Not only can you, you MUST order one! Actually, you don't even need to have yet achieved Wacko status to order a badge. Think about it folks: Do you want to be the only person at your signing event or especially at the regional event without an official 2002 Wacko Name Badge and Lanyard??????

By the way, congratulations on your new Wacko status.

I'm glad to know I can order the badge without being a WACKO Exactly how do I become a WACKO?

Dave, my check for the badge and lanyard will be in the mail first thing tomorrow am.

Mel,

Just have to be Wacko about Harbour Lights. We are equal opportunity and welcome all collectors to order a name tag. It helps you find each other at events, and the really important thing is that this year it helps to raise funds to support the Block Island SouthEast Light.

Welcome, and thanks for your order!

Our badges arrived over the weekend and I have to say you did a great job Dave! If you haven't ordered yours yet, what's the hold-up? The money goes to a great cause and we will be able to recognize each other at all the upcoming events!

So, buy 'em and wear 'em!!!

You won Dave, I got the badge *way* before I made Wacko (technically anyway my husband says I've been nuts for years!)

Thanks

Need to surface this thread. Time is running short for those who are going to Rosemont and/or the regional event and have not yet ordered their 2002 Wacko Name Badges. There are <20 lanyards left, so if you want one now is the time. Plus, the Wacko pins are in the process of being shipped, and what better way to display the pin than attached to your lanyard that is holding the Name Badge with a pic of Block Island SE light.

Lets get those orders in! Remember, not only are you displaying your Wacko pride, you are helping lighthouse preservation!

Fewer than a dozen lanyards remain unspoken for. If you want a lanyard to go with your Wacko Badge, now is the time to order! Badges will continue to be available thru at least the Florida regional, but once the lanyards are gone they are gone.

Down to four (4) lanyards. Want one? Order NOW. Want one for Rosemont? Have to order those by Sunday evening (leaving Tuesday morning...)

We have done well so far, but we have a long ways to go yet. We need to add to the funds already sent to Block Island Southeast last October (Wacko share of the auction monies) and again now (Wacko pin). There is a lot of work to be done to preserve the light, and you can make a difference and get a wonderful, limited edition 2002 Wacko Name Badge.

Don't forget - only 4 lanyards left, so order now!

Getting close to the West Coast / California Regional event so must be time to resurface this thread. I know we have collectors on the west coast, and I know some of them even have computers and are registered here in the Forums. However, way too few have acquired their Official 2002 Connected Collector Name Badge. So, here is your chance to get one ordered in time for the Regional and save the buck on shipping. We still have a few lanyards left. . .

Surfaced for BonnieJean.

Very disappointed in the west coast sales. I have come to the opinion that the internet apparently stops at the Nevada/California border for most HL collectors - very few Wacko badges have made their way west. However, we do have the last regional event, to be held in sunny Florida in November. A large number of Wacko badges have made their way south, but there should be many more ordered with the number of connected collectors we have in that area.

Have you ordered your badge today? Use this handy order form to order your very own limited edition, 2002 Wacko Name Badge and help support preservation efforts at Block Island SouthEast light.

Thank you very much Dave. I have placed my order and wait with abated breath for my prized badge to arrive. smile I currently do not have a club affiliation, but I had been thinking about it for quite some time. I will talk to Wayne of the Tampa Bay HL Club. He is the president of not only that club, but also the Gulf Island Alliance (the group working hard to save the Anclote Key Light) and will soon be the President of the Florida Lighthouse Association. I take it that we have to purchase new badges every year, so by then I will have a club affliliation. wink

You mentioned a November event here in Sunny and Hot Florida - where and when? What will it be about? Could you please give me more information on it or direct my in the right direction to read about it? Thanks! smile

BonnieJean,

Here's a link to the Fall Regional that just happened.

http://www.lighthousekeepers.com/cgi-bin/forumscgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=25;t=000312

Basically it's an event where Harbour lights sets up to display it's latest Models and invites both established and new collectors to come and meet each other and the Harbour Lights people.

There are usually a variety of Lighthouse Organizations and Harbour lights Clubs represented at these events. They have information displayed and are ready to explain their function with those attending.

Since the next Event is in Florida your organization may be involved. I helped with the Spring Event here in NJ coordinating between Harbour Lights and the NJ Lighthouse Society (I'm a member) and assisted in getting some organizations represented at the Event.

The plan right now is to have 4 of these per year. This year there are 4 different versions of the Event Piece, Ft Tompkins. There are 5 Gold Editions of these given away at each of the 4 Events.

You get a chance to win for every Harbour Lights Limited Edition or GLOW your purchase from a participating dealer. Here's a link explaining that.

http://www.harbourlights.com/events/2002/gold.htm

http://www.harbourlights.com/events/2002/default.htm

If you can get don't miss it. I had a blast at the one in April. It was great to meet some of the people that I had only conversed with.

I was also able to give a private tour of Sandy Hook Lighthouse to some of the Wackos who came in early on Friday.

If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask me or Dave or anyone else who was there or at the other 2 Regional Events.

BonnieJean,

Here is the general info -

WINTER: Sat, November 16, 12-4pm, Royal Palm Beach FL
Winter Regional Event-RSVP (800) 365-1219
Royal Palm Beach Cultural Center
151 Civic Center Way , Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411

Watch the events forum in the next few weeks, and a thread will be started to discuss the event and who is going. Several of us from "out of town" are planning on attending. We would love to do some lighthousing while there for a long weekend. What do you think you could set up???

BonnieJean got the last lanyard I had available. However, we still can produce badges. Either use your own lanyard or I can give you a tradtional clip attachment. There are still a lot of Florida Connected Collectors who have not ordered their badge. There is still time to do so, and the cost is a mere $5 since they will be delivered at the regional event. Get yours ordered today - do you want to be the person NOT wearing a Connected Collector Name Badge at the regional? We still have a little ways to go to finish our gift for Block Island Southeast Light.

Getting close to last call for the Official 2002 Wacko Name Badges. I will wrap this project up by the end of the month so that I can get funds sent off to Block Island Southeast Light. Please note that there are NO lanyards left, so all badges will be sent with a clip attachment.

Sometime after the start of the new year we will look into doing a 2003 version for those interested. Thanks to all who have supported this project we will add about another $1000 to Forum Members gifts to Block Island Southeast this year!

Last Call

The time has come to wrap up this project. I will accept orders thru the end of next week - 11/22. I will also have some order forms at the Florida Regional if there is any interest. There are no lanyards left, so all badges will be sent with a clip attachment. Cost is only $5 plus a $1 shipping. After the 22nd, the mold will be broken and this item no longer produced, so get your very own official 2002 Connected Collector Name Badge now.

Dave, do you know what Lighthouse will be honored next year with the Wacko Badges? I'm ready for mine - our first FLA meeting will be 1/18/03 and I would like to have my new badge before that. smile

Also, just a suggestion, but could you set up PayPal for the Badge ordering? It might make it easier for some of us. Thanks for a great job you did with 2002's badges. I look forward to seeing next year's. cool

I'm with you BonnieJean. Looking forward to next years Wacko Badge now that last call has been issued for this years. Great way to keep the informed collectors involved and a very nice way to recognize people at the reunions, regionals, etc. Having said all that, I didn;t get to use mine this year as I had undergone surgery two days before the Northeast regional and my wife was sick for one of the local store events. Looking forward to seeing what's in store for next year.

Bert smile

BonnieJean,
Probably won't have new badge ready that early in the year, but we will see. Next year's light is Bodie Island, chosen last summer.

Bert,
No more unplanned hospital visits causing you to miss regional events! Just wear your badge around the house and it will serve as a good-health charm....
