The Southeast Lighthouse Foundation held a party Saturday, August 17th, to raise matching funds needed for the restoration and to preview architectural drawings of the restoration project. See below for more details.

Raise the Roof

You can purchase a slate roof shingle and be listed on the "Wall of Restoration", a wall display in the lighthouse. Just click on the following link and the PDF file will load. For a dialup connection allow 1-2 minutes for the form to load. Print the form and follow the instructions.

Form to Purchase Roof Shingle

A special edition T-Shirt was designed for the restoration project. Not certain if the T-Shirt will be available on the Foundation website www.lighthouse.cc/blockisoutheast.

Here's the graphic for the new T-Shirt.

If you have any problems getting the form to display, please e-mail us.

Thanks,

Tom & Joyce

Tom and Joyce---Thank you for bringing this issue to the forums...Carolyn and I attended. We even (finally)met one Dr. Gerry Abbott-Chairman of the S.E. Light Foundation. We took pictures of the architect's (Mike Abbott, no relation) marvelous plans. The quality of the anticipated renovation makes it (almost) worth the long wait.
The New England Lighthouse Lovers (NELL) is planning to participate at the Lighthouse in a major way in one year...
In the meantime, we are so pleased that this project appears to be underway and will result in a magnificent rebirth.
By the way, the Foundation is VERY knowlegeable and pleased with the Wacko's contibutions.
Thanks again, and our best to all you lighthouse onesupporters...Frank and Carolyn

This is a wonderful way to raise the matching funds needed for the restoration of this lighthouse. I have printed out the form for the shingles and MJ will be mailing it in soon. Thank you Tom & Joyce for posting this and to Carolyn & Frank for their unending efforts on behalf of Southeast Light.

As Paul pointed out in Baltimore, this beautiful light desperately needs help. Before the 2nd reunion my wife and I went to Block Island and was very surprised to see the condition it was in. Hopefully this fundraiser can jump start the funds needed for the roof and other projects.

The Hoosier Lighthousing Club issues a challenge to all of the other Harbour Lights Clubs to match their donation of $100 for a slate shingle for the Southeast Lighthouse.... The Hoosier Lighthousing Club's name will appear on the list of donors at the lighthouse...

This is a separate donation from the Brady’s for a slate shingle..

Dear Hoosiers---
NELL is about to step up to the plate too (or is it "shingle"?) In addition to many individual donations from our members. Thanks for starting this challenge...Frank

The Long Island Chapter of the United States Lighthouse Society has bought
- a shingle at Southeast Block Island Lighthouse
- a brick at North Block Island Light
- a brick at Avery Point Lighthouse
In addition, the Scroope Family has also purchased the above for these worthy causes.

In honor of our fellow Wacko, Bill "oseabee" O'Brien, we will be purchasing a shingle at the Block Island Southeast Lighthouse. The shingle will serve as a permanent memorial for our friend. Thank you all for your support of this project.

I'm glad to see Southeast Light on the Bill O'Brien Memorial list. I will look for his name when I visit each summer.
