For those who may be interested, I thought that since we are coming up on a lull in the postcard exchanges and the holiday season is upon us, I thought there might be some interest in a holiday card exchange.

For anyone who wishes to participate, please send me your address to me at sweetpshirin@yahoo.com . Lets keep this to 25 people like the regular postcard exchanges. Also, in the interest of getting out the names to all of the participants and leaving them plenty of time to get cards and mail them, I will finalize the list Saturday November 30th if I have not received 25 particpants by then and email the list out Sunday December 1st. If 25 people sign up then I will send the list out earlier. Finally, let's set the last date of this exchange for December 31st.

So, let me know if you're interested or have suggestions to make this better/easier.

I'll start off the list being #1.

Thanks,
shirin

Count me in on this exchange. I guess I will be #7 if no one is typing in this info a minute before me.

One question: This is a post card exchange and not a Christmas card exchange, correct?

My address is on the way to your email address.

Judy,

My original thought was for holiday cards but I think postcards would work just as well right everyone?

We hope it is going to be a holiday card exchange. If we don't make it down to the Texas coast this weekend, we may not have enough lighthouse postcards.

How about holiday card or postcard? This would be great, unless everyone wants a postcard.

We are already in the exchange with an earlier post. This comment was posted when the question of holiday card vs postcard came up.

BonnieJean, I hope you don't balance the family checkbook! Two competing folks at #10 would yield a 10 and 11. If we use the traditional, sequential one up numbering system that has worked so well for us here in the forums, you will have to be #12. #13 is not unlucky at all, so I'll go ahead and take it.

Maybe it could be done as either one - kind of like a "Which would you like - Postcard or Holiday Card?" Everyone could then send you the card of your choice. I would rather postcards, but will accept Holiday cards also. smile

I've already contacted Shirin to let her know I'm only interested in a postcard exchange. The holiday greeting card is a nice thought but I get so many as it is and they always end up in the trash after Christmas. It seems like such a waste. At least postcards are saved and put into albums for future enjoyment.

I'm in if it's postcards but out if it's holiday cards. Sorry, but that's the way I feel.

 Bob

Well all I can say is that I don't have enough postcards, and I probably have sent you all the ones I do have, so it will be Holiday cards from me. This started out very innocent and now it seems to be getting out of hand. Where is the Holiday spirit guys? Either should be fine don't you think? confused

My take on Shirin's original idea is that she said "holiday card". Personally, I intend to make some just for this group. Not hard to do if you have a digital camera or a scanner. You can create the cards in a variety of programs. I will either use Word or may look at some of the other graphic programs to see if they have some interesting card creating mechanism. I need to look at winter pictures I have and find one that I like and get it scanned. I think this exchange will provide some interesting items for us.

Anyone wants to create their own and doesn't have a scanner, I will be glad to scan the item for you.

Holiday card or post card, either is OK with me.

Looks like more people are leaning towards the holiday cards over the postcards as their preference. So I would think we should go with holiday cards to be sent for this exchange. I did intend for holiday cards when I started this exchange as something different to do.

I am so so so so so sorry for the confusion and to anyone who does not want to participate in a holiday card exchange. frown If those who no longer want to participate would please let me know, I will post a revised list later this evening.

Okay, I'm going to have to do some searching. If I read all this correctly, we are trading clean, unused Holiday Cards with Lighthouses on them. We don't have any like that in my area, so I have to start looking around. I will be in Michigan for several weeks, so I may find some there. smile If there is a delay in receiving the cards from me, please be patient - I will be out-of-state for the first, third, and fourth week of December, but I will try to send the cards out earlier or the week I get back. Thank you for understanding. wink

Okay, I may be repeating a question that has already been answered, but I would like to double check on one thing. The Lighthouse Christmas "Holiday" Cards that we send out are to be Clean and Unused, Correct? Meaning no writing on the original card or envelope. Please let me know. Thanks. smile

From a personal point of view, I hope that I get a holiday card that has a lighthouse or nautical theme. Maybe homemade - these are always extra special because someone I know spent their time creating the "gift" that it is. Writing on it? Sure hope so - it is a holiday card.

Okay, I guess maybe I have missed the end result here. frown I figured that we would be exchanging clean, unused holiday cards so that we would each receive 16 different unused cards that we could use at our own disposal. Otherwise, we could have just asked each other for the addresses we wanted and sent cards that way without the exchange. Plus I'm sure that there are some that you will want to send X-mas cards to that aren't on the exchange.

Please let me know if I'm wrong - I hate that I didn't catch the full jist of this exchange. Don't get me wrong, I would love to send you each a X-mas card and would have done so. . . in addition to the clean, unused card I sent along. Thank you in advance for your clarification Shirin. smile

WOW! Unused cards without any writing? If that is what we were suppose to do then I really missed the boat. I sent my cards out the other day. They were holiday cards with lighthouses on the front. I did, however, sign the inside. Was I wrong to do that?

No, Linda Ann, that is exactly what I have done - a card with a lighthouse on it. It is a regular Christmas card with a lighthouse theme - that was my interpretation of the message. By the way, I got yours today! Thanks! Mine are going out on Monday.

Wow, go away for the weekend and you get tons of things to respond to. Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone.

Clean vs. used cards were not previously discussed for this exchange and by the looks of it, it seems we will get a mix of cards this time. This was something I just never thought of and I appologize for messing this exchange up. If there is another exchange like this next year we'll know exactly how to word the setup message.

For those who have already sent their cards, Thanks, either way you have sent them, I'm happy to see there were participants in the exchange.

Oops! I wrote in the cards I sent out.
I plan to display my lighthouse cards in a special area on a door decorated with wrapping paper). What would my family think if I had 16 cards with no writing? It would look like I bought them myself. I'd like to think I was getting holiday greetings from friends. Thanks everyone for joining and making my holiday a little brighter!

The original post here seemed clear to me!

This is simply an opportunity to add the 16 new names and addresses to your existing Christmas Card Mailing List. With the only difference of the fact that it should be a Lighthouse card, not one of a Christmas Tree, Santa Clause, Rudolf, a Teddy Bear......... etc. Signed and with a personal note if you want to add one, just as you would with any other Christmas Card!

This was my original thought and is still my perception on the issue.

Shirin wasn't this your intinions?

I don't usually get flustered at this stuff, but I think this is getting a little ridiculous. No matter what the reason, or what you send, can't we all just be happy and enjoy the cards and have a nice Holiday Season. If you don't like the idea of the cards, just don't send any.

Okay, I guess I was just going with my prior experience with card exchanges and figured this would be the same. I have done greeting card exchanges before and they were clean, unused cards. They weren't for show, but to add to your collection so that you had different cards to send out at your leisure. (Usually you would buy a box of the same cards and you would be one to each person on the list. And they would each send you a card, this way you now had a box of new and different cards.) You were then able to send them to anyone you wanted, when you wanted. I guess I should have figured that this one would be different - every thing seems to be a bit different here. smile (Not that that is a bad thing.)

Okay, I have relented to the numbers and have sent out my 15, personalized and written on Holiday cards to each person on the list. I hope you like them. I made them myself from a picture I took this last week in the Artic Tundra called Michigan! :p Hope you all like them.

I got a beautiful card from Sheryl last week - she made a card of a picture she took of me at Cape Cod light. I will have to scan it so you all can see just how "beautiful" I really am. I also got a beautiful card today from Carol Z. from NJ. I do love beautiful lighthouse cards!
