Today was Postcard Bonanza!!! I received 5 postcards today. Wow! What a nice surprise!
Two from PCE9, 1 from PCE8, and 1 from PCE7 and am not sure it the other one was from PCE 7 or 9.

Mine will be in the mail on Thursday. I stamped all of my postcards from a recent trip, so I did not want to write over the emblem. I am amazed at the beautiful cards that I have received.

I had no problem getting post cards for the post card exchange #8. I just took a ride to Sanibel and bought them at one of the shops on Periwinkle Way. ( The lighthouse has no museum or gift shop)
When I signed up for PE#9 and PE#10 I thought I had it made. I was going with the Florida LH Assoc. to see Anclote Key and Egmont Key. No Problem - right? WRONG!
Neither light had a museum shop or gift shop and I couldn't find any post cards of either light in any of the shops in those areas.
Since I don't have a "stash" of postcards on hand, and won't have the opportunity to shop/visit any LH in the immediate future, I definitely have a problem. I apologize to all the members of the exchange but I am improvising and making my own to send to you. I am so sorry, but I wanted to send something to all of you. When I get a real, store-bought post card, I'll make it up to you. But for now, I hope you will all understand.
Regrets, JoanieO

Joanie,

There are several ways to make your own cards. One is to scan a picture, print it onto a postcard blank and then mail it. There are several varieties of postcard products available from your local office store. The downside is that I think the cards are kind of flimsy and not sure how well they will travel thru the mails.

The second way is one that Derith has used. She bought a post card backing that you pasted (peel & stick) onto a normal printed picture. Those looked great, and came thru the mail in good shape.

Got any lighthouse photos you like?

Dave

I had a friend who used to send me photos through the mail every now and then. He just put a stamp on the back and wrote on them like they were a post card. They came through just fine. But then he was a mailman so maybe he knew a trick?

I took my last batch of cards up to the P.O. and asked if they could hand cancel them. They said even if they did the main P.O. in Syracuse still runs them through a machine. Guess that's what makes little tears on the back and those sort of white spots on the front of some of them? Then others don't even look like they've been touched!?

Joanie, whatever you decide to do will be fine I'm sure.

I received Joan's and Suzanne's cards while I was away this weekend. Both are great additions to the collection.

Joan, I was thinking of making my own card for this exchange until I went to NYC for an evening. Otherwise, this exchange would have ended up with two homemade cards. I like the personal pics.
